Direct him to the job centre along with all the other people that think NOT working is a lifestyle choice?

i think that you have the measure of the op, all wrong its not that he does not wish to work but more of that the op wishes to work in a job that actually impresses upon his interests.
which i applauded i for one would rather people base their career on what they actually funder mentally wish to follow (aka intresst) rather than what they need to do to pay the bills.

funder mentally

FUNDAMENTALLY

But that's OK, we'll have millions on the dole until the "right" job comes along while we've got no one to work in factories. Then we'll have to import people from poorer countries to do these menial jobs (and pay taxes to keep the non working locals) that the locals won't do because they get better paid for NOT working. Then all the NON working locals will complain that there are no jobs because the immigrants have taken them all.
Nice logic.

Sound familiar?

I've been out since 11 this morning, that's no excuse!

The choice is yours to make OP, but watch your step.

I lost my job last June - I'm intelligent, eloquent and have a good level of experience in my field, excellent knowledge of it and have been applying for everything.

Trouble is, in this 'climate' (I know it's a cliché but I've found it to be valid), so are PLENTY of other people.

I'm working, have been since September last year, but the job is utter toilet and as the company is dying a slow and painful death, my hours have been cut to part time. I'm struggling enormously, and I'm far from unemployable. With the job market like it is right now it's genuinely a blessing to be in a job that's half decent. I'm earning the same money I was years ago and the part time cut hasn't even happened yet.

My life as a whole has become a tremendous struggle. You may think your job is terrible (I used to complain about mine) but you'll miss it if you end up in the **** and there's a good chance you will.

I implore you to reconsider it while you still have the chance, which it seems like you do. The job market is ****ing tough lately - I never struggled to find a job before and I really, really am right now. I'm just glad I'm working, even if it's part time for a **** company.

+1
My job is rubbish compared to what I used to do & what I used to earn.
My wage is nearly half what I used to earn
My job frustrates me to hell because I'm treated like a number now.
My manager doesn't appreciate what I do, although he seems to appreciate people doing less.

That's life! If I hate it enough I'll find another job, but until then I'll stay here.
If I was still at my parents like the OP I could do as the OP is doing, but you know what? I didn't.

Self pride!

you have to have a harder job than me and you have to be out longer than that other guy.... you just always by the sounds of it, have to be better than everyone.

I support you in this. I resigned from my last job with no notice given. Just emailed them to say I wasn't coming back.

Hated the hours, the pay, and had no respect for my boss who was an Irish eejit who paid cash in hand.

Most people here who say 'grow up' are just trying to save face - as usual - and convince themselves there are many valid reasons why they are in their own dead end workplaces. It's easier to stay than move on. Well done for standing up for yourself but start looking for more work and join an agency near you NOW.

That's life!

That's your life because you choose it to be. Sorry!

just because you want to make do with a bad job, that isn't my problem. I'm standing up for myself even though some people would think it's foolish. Oh and how many times have you mentioned about me still living at home? Are you jealous? Some would think that you are just because your life seems crap.

You seem to have the same understanding as me mate and I would like to thank you for your constructive advice :)

Nope not at all.
But the missus has been away all week so I booked the week off work to drink beer and eat Doners with my mates (and a few strangers).
Maybe you're just not as adventurous as you'd like to think you are?

I think you miss the big point!
You sound like a spoiled brat who doesn't have to take life seriously because you have no responsibilities.
Times will change...

I don't take life seriously because I'm not that type of person, I can do what I want just like you can.

times will change, honestly, you sound like a fool.
