Asus rampage III Extreme

Hi Helios1234

Did you manage to check the Asus rampage III Extreme to see if it has got Internal USB 2.0 headers that
would be needed for connecting a card reader to the board???

Thanks so much for responding

"Not due to be officially released to the public for a couple of months" Huh  I thought it is supposed to be released in a few weeks? Or have I read this wrong?

I think it's a typo on their part...stock should be in the next 2 weeks according to what I hear!

Well, reading -VK-'s sig is a good bit of relief that I wouldnt have to endure anything like the recent MSI 'Aprils fool' thing from using Asus boards :p

Im happy with my current Gigabyte for now, but if I currently had an MSI board it would have most likely have been put on fire as soon as the Rampage III was released.

I'll probably get this board later on, or if the future Rampage board for Intels next socket is as good as this one with the same slot layout.

I hope that Asus continue using this slot layout on future boards.

Hey just checked for you and it does have one USB 2.0 header at the bottom.

Look forward to your review Helios, this is the only x58 board that might convince me to move from my current p6t deluxe v2.

Off topic, when can we see your comparison of the TRUE with the current top end air coolers, the last chart you compiled was excellent mate, look forward to your TRUE review/comparison with the new stuff.:)

Hopefully end of next week :). Gonna work on the rampage this coming week.

Well, I`ll probably be going for either the Prolimatech Mega Shadow or Thermalright Venomous X CPU Cooler but i`m not sure which one would be best suited to get the best out of this board and the Intel I7 980x.

Yea, that Noctua has bigger dimensions than my Asus, although it looks smaller and may have been measured with the fans on :p

Comparing clip on fan coolers is annoying when they list their dimensions either with or without the extra fans.

I could get £180 for my UD5, but this would still be around an extra £100 and I only use 2 graphics cards. I have enough saved up in paypal, but I dont want to spend it on something just because it looks nicer. I managed to resist buying those Asus 5850s, I shall resist this temptation as well ........

I can control my addiction, goooo willpower ......

(Just wait and see me crumble, a few weeks after its released I'll end up buying it :(. I dream of having this board and two Asus 5850s :( :( :().

Now I just realised .... If you place two graphics cards into the 1st + 3rd red slots, and your souncard into the 4x brown slot, there are two single slots left over to accomodate a fan card, or those shiny new Prolimatech MK-13 coolers! .... If it wasnt already tempting enough without the possibility of using two MK-13s with two red led fans fixed to each one.....

I roll a 1 on my willpower save, Critical Failure! I want this board now with two Prolimatech MK-13s.

I already went and ordered 8 red led fans, and will sell my current blue ones. Then I get this mobo and a pair of Prolimatech MK-13s for a super nice case mod.
