Should i get another 5770 or get another 470gtx?
i was thinking of selling my 5770 and my old 9800GT and a few other things to get a 470gtx and buy another 470 later on.

wont fit in my case :)

i want something less than 11inch long (480gtx is 10.6 and i think the 470 is the same).

Wasn't the conclusion that the GTX470 was only as good as a 5850 yet costs £100 more and then factor in the noise and heat?

and 2 5770s are as good as a 5870 in some games and thats £200 less...
I wont be buying as soon as it comes out. Ill see what happens with prices for other cards. Just i wanna know what would be best. 470 doesnt look that bad. Beats the 5850 at my resolution 1920x1080.

it does but only by about 5-10% and that is not worth £100 and 100w imo.

Why not get a 5850? Same length as the 470.

but im mostly wanting nvidia for some of its features. So i wouldnt mind spending abit on a 470 over the 5850 for its features.

In my 3d cad work, my nvidia 9800gt gives me a lot smoother editing in program than my 5770. infact i have to use open GL on a few programs with my 5770. So im hopeig a new nvidia will make it even better. So im guessing a 5850 might be the same.

Well then you can't really compare it like the average person would.

You need to look at the price differences between the 5850 and 470, and then take into account the heat and noise, and then consider how much you need the extra performance in CAD, and then make a decision.

It would be hard to inform you without being stood over your shoulder watching you work! :p

2*5770 =/> 5850, 5870 is some cases. The 470 is the 5850s competitor not the 5870. It cost £100 more than the 5850. If you can crossfire then 5770, if you want single card with the option to crossfire later the 5850 and sell the 5770.

At 309 quid, the 470's competitor is the 5870. Logic dictates this.

@OP how many monitors do you use? You should be aware that Fermi bakes itself with dual monitors, even at idle...

logic would also make you look at the performance figures were you can see that the 5850 and 470 trade blows in most games and beat each other slightly in the odd one or 2 (except metro 2033 where nvidia has a huge advantage but ati claim it's due to lack of driver support for metro)

At current pricing levels the GTX470 and HD5870 are similarly priced.
