Earth Hour 2010 @ 20:30

No, I don't think I will.

A bunch of hippies lighting candles will not save the planet.

There's a balancing argument somewhere between the 'It's all rubbish!' and 'We're doomed!' and it's based around the idea that really, there's no real harm in treating the planet with some respect.

There's no point consuming more energy than you need to. Trying not to use plastic bags for example is something simple that decreases landfill.

If you look at things like that it's not really so much an argument about whether climate change is affected by our activity, and more about treating nature with some natural respect.

I'm unconvinced by human effect on climate change, but it doesn't stop me wanting to treat my environment well.

:)

I know IKEA are joining in with this although the shop is closed anyway

Too little too late really, with all the trees they've cut down to make flat pack furniture you could probably build a stairway from the Earth to the Sun.

i've done my part all bulbs in the house are those pants ones which take a decade to get bright! and recycle every week.

So everything will be as normal :)

How will just switching lights off help? Surely if you keep the TV/Cooker etc off for that hour...
Jcb33.

China and India doing something about their emissions as well as other countries with huge amounts of heavy industry will do far, far more than this.

I don't see why it's always the educated, law abiding citizen of small countries like ours who bang on about climate change and try to do so much about it. The UK will barely make a difference on the grand scheme of things yet we're all green and organic these days (not that it's bad at all) and we think we're actually doing something.

Just heavily sanction the Chinese and Indians for a start. Then the USA, Russia and others.

I will not be turning my lights off as I'm fed up of these 'do this, do that for this AMAZING cause' group and event invites on facebook.
