I’m having high temp problems with my bundle (*OVERCLOCKED* Intel Core i7 930 2.80GHz @ 4.00GHz / Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Motherboard / Corsair XMS3 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 (1600MHz) Tri-Channel DDR3)

So I started a thread here.

Anyway, I swapped one of the fans on the cooler to one with higher RPM and was initially overjoyed with the temp drop, until I noticed the clockspeed...

Any idea what’s happened?

This is intels speedstep at work, this lowers the clockspeed when the system is idle, as you can see in your second pic, with 100% load on the cpu your full speed of 2.8ghz is displayed.

Looks like you have lost your overclock, not sure if your motherboard can save the profiles in the BIOS.

pop into the BIOS and press F12, hopefully your overclock settings will be saved there.

Edit: Did yo save and exit :)

I suspected I lost the overclock, but thought speedstep only came into play in the case of the CPU being overclocked.

pop into the BIOS and press F12, hopefully your overclock settings will be saved there.

Bah!! Guess I did. :o

Thanks mate. Overclock showing again, now back to sorting the temps..
