hi there my grandad passed away recently, my nan has now offered me his car which is a mint condition Vauxhall vectra 2.2 sxi. He has owned it from new and it's done 30k. I am 17 but soon to be 18 I was wondering if anybody knew of any insurance companies that would be interested in insuring me for a sub 2k price. Quinn direct (my current insurers wouldn't insure that car to anybody under 21) I don't think I will be able to get insured easy.

Anyway thanks for reading.

Try one of the Admiral group, Bell, Elephant etc.

I have a friend who is 19 and drives a 2.2 Vectra, although not the SXi variant, I can't imagine he pays ridiculous amounts for it, especially as they aren't particularly fast.

Hi sorry to hear about your loss.

Im not going to lie but I think you will pay a lot tbh.

when you start to get SXI,GTI etc etc they see that as a sporty version even tho most of the time its just the interior thats different.

I may be wrong but you are young and male?.

SXi isn't really the sporty model, but kind of an intermediate. SRi and VXR both follow the SXi in terms of sportiness.

not saying it is the sporty model but when there is SXI etc after model then it tends to put up price a little.

but what I was saying is he/she is 18 soon and thats a 2.2 they wont insure as he has found out and if they do will be lots of money tbh.

but good luck :) keep us informed would be interesting to find out.

Thanks for replys bell have quoted 1849 fully comp with dad and mum as named drivers I didn't think that's to bad! Same as my 306

Yes putting them as a named driver me as main, 3pft is 1500 so it's looking more doable,

you say as named drivers so does that mean you are on there insurance so to speak?.

any ways wish you the best.

I'd read that as to say that the policy would be in his name, with his parents added as named drivers so they can also drive it fully comp - nothing wrong with this at all.

I can't seem to find anybody that will insure me for less than 4k (which I am not going to pay) But when I turn 18 they will do it for 1600 with step mum and dad on.
