Just wondering who else has a dissertation due this week?

Mine is due on Wednesday @ 13.30, I think it's doable if I stay up until that time, with no sleep.

Anyone else faced with a similar challenge? :p

Mine's due end of the month. Been doing it since Feb. Probably about 70 hours put in so far, 7700 words done, 300 to go! Any interesting topics? I'm doing mine on the Tiger woods scandal impacts on sponsors.

Mine originally was:

Recessionary effects on entrepreneurs and SMEs within the United Kingdom during 2008-2009

Then cut down to:

Recessionary effects on entrepreneurs within the United Kingdom during 2008-2009

Also you are lucky... You only have to write 8000 Words? Mine is 1k off that at the moment, but I need to do around 14k+ (some on course have done 80k lol)

Anyone know whether the UK is a Factor / Innovation or Efficiency driven economy?

They got permission. I am personally annoyed by it... +/- 10% is fine, but going over by 500-600% is an absolute joke.

Well at least be glad in knowing the person could either not have written 80k words of good material or if they actually have will probably only end up getting 10 marks more than you after wasting an entire year. I hope you get a better mark after writing 15k words, so that you can laugh at them for me.

edit:

I'm still pretty amazed. What course is this for?

I am lucky indeed. But I have a lot of other essays going on at the same time sadly so it's not all rosy :p

If you're dissertation is due in a few days and you haven't even started yet, you don't deserve to be in University :P

My dissertation, last year, went to the wire but that is because I kept adding to it and improving it. I literally began typing it up in the previous September. If you have only just started a week or so before the deadline then that is phenomenally poor practice.

I started it in september! But only been writing *the main stuff* over the two weeks, crazy I know. Good news is I have most of my research... shame I picked a topic that is hard to survey for.

Ahh don't worry so do I.

Last week: Interaction Design Project - Phone App Design + Usability testing + Surveys etc

Then a business plan including legal docs, website, and a bunch of other stuff coming out at over 100 pages - Although I'm pretty sure mine will become the standard for next year as the model coursework

After disso is due I got 12,000 words due a month later, but have to do it in 10 days as I have exams May 5th till 14th consisting of 5 exams.

:p

Not been able to start mine yet; I am doing a design project where the dissertation is effectively a 60 page report. Today, however, is the day when I can test everything in environment and get some results to analyse.

I started the write up last week, I'll pass 10,000 words today.

But I've been working on this bit since September:

That's an early version of the interface. It goes in a single seat racing car. Engine comes from a CBR600RR.

I'm doing well tbh... I can type at 140wpm, but obviously you never get to that speed with all this referencing... I've done nearly 1000 words since my last post, and it's sounding quite good. Only issue im worried about is proof reading, I may have to force an english friend to work overnight.

80k? What professor is going to read that? That's basically a thesis.

I reckon they're just hoping that the professor doesn't read it all and equates quality with quantity. If they can't deal with all the relevant issues in their chosen topic within the word limit (or near enough) then something is wrong - either they've seriously overestimated the amount of detail needed and they're pitching at PHd level (bit unlikely) or it's nowhere near focused enough and most of it is filler.

Good luck to everyone doing their dissertation at the moment, I'm quite glad I don't have to do another one at the moment.

The girl who wrote 80k took a year out of university and was working on the NHS IT system, so I reckon she wrote a good piece. Generally the people who have gone well over are good students, but it is still very corrupt that there are no penalties enforced, despite being told NOTHING OVER 16k.

And thank you for the well wishes! I'm confident I will have this tidied up by tonight... I haven't slept for over 30 hours yet I am pumping with adrenaline :D
