I'm not fussed about screen size or res, infact, the smaller the phone the better and this is why I prefer the Legend. I also like the body construction, general size, weight, battery life, all of which swing it in favour over the Desire.

I take it the root software is the same, its just hardware that's different?

HTC Desire uses a 1ghz Snapdragon processor while the Legend uses a processor barely faster than the HTC Hero (i.e. making it slower than iphones/milestones/palm-pres). The Snapdragon chipset also has superior graphics performance which does make a difference with all the transitions and animations in the Sense UI (also good for pinch and zoom and stuff).

If the HTC legend appeals more to you, then get it. On paper the Desire is in a different league.

Desire.

Had mine two days and the Nexus One's getting binned in favour of it.... will make a profit on that one anyway, so that's nice.

Seriously though, get the Desire. It's pretty damn sweet.

I thought the Nexus was stunning, but combined with HTC Sense and Android 2.1, the fact the Desire's basically the Nexus One anyway makes it all the better.

Legend looks "cool", but you will definitely notice the slower processor over time.... when I got my G1 back from repair a few weeks back, it was painful to use.

No brainer decision really.

are we gonna get the EVO though?????

i thought that it wouldnt work on our networks over here...... if we are getting it then im gonna hold onto the hero until it arrives.:D

There must be a GSM version. Can't see HTC designing a purely CDMA phone.

Yes, but the GSM version is currently rumoured to be named the Supersonic.

The Legend is only going to be available on contract with Vodaphone which is a big downer for me cuz their plans suck. That will probably change over time but not much use if you need it now!

I was offered an HTC Desire in Carphone Warehouse at Canary Wharf today on either Orange or Vodafone (18 and 24 month contracts). e.g. on Orange:

24m - £30 per month, phone is free, 500mins, unlimited texts, 500mb internet.
18m - £30 per month, phone is £149, 500mins, 300 texts, can't remember the internet.

I phoned O2 to get my PAC and they advised that they should have it available around the 24th April.
