Las Vegas - general pre-booking advice

cheapest direct flight I ever got was £280 prob because it was on boxing day, usually aroud £500 these days

we have just booked this years trip and paid £650 each for flight ( economy out, premium economy back ) , looks like are are staying 3 nights downtown in the Cabana Suites and then 6 nights at the Platinum

Think this in now my 11th trip in about last 7 or 8 yrs :)

slast few trips have been 14 nights each but shortened it this year as last years ended up costing £6k by the time we added everything up

11th trip in 7 or 8 years. Wow! Im hoping to go again this november, and stay in the planet hollywood! Theres a new hotel that looks pretty impressive, **** i think its called? Wouldnt mind staying there!

Regarding the shows aswell Sid, we all got there flyers they were handing outside treasure island for cirque de solei, which enabled us to get tickets for around $50 each. Not too bad. The show was mightly impressive!

i went in Nov and booked hotel and flight through BA as a package. Premium economy and 5 nights at venetian was the same price as just undiscounted premium economy.

Anything to do in Vegas that doesn't involve gambling?

I am not a troll, just wanna know.

hookers..............actually there is lots to do. Attractions, shopping, shows, concerts, grand canyon etc. My last trip was work related but previous one was to see a gig and just mess - didn't gamble a penny.

Sounds ok then. I went to Florida last year, now wanna check out NYC then maybe Vegas. I just have no interest in Casino's so always saw vegas as pointless, will have to research.

Try and get a room in North Tower, South Tower rooms are very dated

Not done the LA drive but do know it is quite boring and traffic is very bad into Vegas on a Friday and out on a Sunday

Im booked in a South Tower room but Im going to try the $20 trick as from what ive read nearly everyone get at least an "upgrade" to the North Tower.

I arrive on sunday the 18th and then drive down to la on friday 23rd. Planning on stopping off at Kalico ghost town as thats about half way along the I15

Personally I think there are loads of places in the US I would rather go. It is horribly tacky, but fun. If you haven't done too much US, probably look elsewhere or do it as part of a bigger trip.

I agree if you're not bothered about betting then go somewhere else like SF LA etc personally i would go to New York
