I have had enough of them

You play one you have played them all in game play terms...
Click press move ... ye some skills

There just way to time consuming for me nowadays
I have seen the light sitting at the pc for 12 hours a day is out of order!

you tend to think oh but my interweb Gang needs me or i must kill this boss
Makes me think what i could have done the past 4 years or so instead of
trying to obtain the Ub3r 1337 pro armor sets or be the best in the server!

You forget you have a real life Woman, kids and bills
let yourself go used to be a keen weight lifter loved cycling and generally being active...

Basically i fell for the gimmick's they constantly throw at you
I Was Addicted..

/Rant off

With all that said i feel better :D

Not saying i will not play games in general now..
But sure as hell wont be any Mmorpg !

Can any one recommend some (Action / FPS) games
that i can just exit game forget about etc *You get me?*

currently running a Dual core @ 1.80ghz 2gig ram and 8400gs
(poor i know)

Been looking at l4d2 and battlefield bad company 2

I have seen a few post on random searches saying that my gfx card can run them on a low setting's so any one confirm this ?

Cheers !

L4d2 it should be able to. Im running a 2ghz duel core with a 8400M GS and i play l4d 2 perfectly fine. Any source game should run fine on that computer.

Bit harsh :D

Not all MMOs require 12 hours a day of play. Not all MMOs play the same way. Some dont even have skills to click on. Not all MMOs have ub3r 1337 pro armour sets.

Its just the way MMOs have gone since the release of the "big" one. UO (just as one example) was really radically different from the "modern" MMOs. :)

Rune scape ~ quit
Wow ~ quit over a year ago
Aion ~ Recently quit
Mortal online Beta ~ Quit recently
Second life ~ RPG space sim ~ Quit 2yrs ago

I have had my fare share of Mmo
Wouldent describe myself as a WoW fan boi ;)

So you're going to play a non-mmo for hours and hours instead and never complain?
Because MMOs are the only addicting games?

I went back because it brings a lot more content, value for money.
Also can play with most of my friends. (make new ones maybe).
I've met a few from meeting online, 10 years on we still talk every day or /other.

Shame you never got the chance to try UO at its prime.

On the other hand, maybe its not such a shame as you may never have found a game that could match it ever since :)

No ChrisJSY

Further into my post i stated im looking for a game which can be loged off / exit
and forget about for however long and not require a life time dedication to catch up !

action games and fps i feel fall into that category as i never really given those
style games a chance ;)

because of Mmorpg addiction !

If I made a thread every time I quit an online massive multiplayer I'd need a forum subsection.

I don't treat an in-game friends list as anything important. Which reminds me, I need to delete everyone on mine again. Get a friend invite every five minutes...

Get emotionally involved by imagining they mean something and you will find it more difficult to leave.

There are (quite) rare instances though where the friends you meet in an MMO do become real life friends. We've had RL guild meets in London, Vienna, Stockholm, Indianapolis and Denver. Stayed at each others houses, gone out partying together, laughed together and mourned together.

Admittedly though those friendships are quite rare (and getting more and more rare as the social aspect of MMOs is increasingly replaced with the personal gain aspect of MMOs)

Yes does sound like it was a good game back in the day...

Always old players telling the tales :)

Yeah, certainly were great times. Really showed the potential of just how special MMOs could be. Sadly that potential never developed and some would say it went the other way, never know though, maybe one day it will return :)

MMO's can be addictive for a lot of people, my little brother sat playing WOW yesterday for literally the whole day and I can't understand why. MMO's are just not immersive for me, watching some pixelated character making the same 'ugh' noise and the same animation with his weapon etc etc, with v.outdated visuals is not what I call fun lol, the world of warcraft 'world' is split into shards as well??? Which to me would wreck the point of being massively online multiplayer, everybody should be in the same virtual world like EVE online does it.

Gaming is a form of entertainment, not a second life

I like MMO's but you have to have some self control to play them. I can see why some people can be glued to them for so long because there is always something to do and you can always upgrade and improve your character.

But you just have to learn to hit the "off" button. I was in a big raiding guild on WoW for a while, realised it was taking up faaaaaaaaaarrrrr too much time so I just packed in. Still chat with the people off the game and play WoW a bit but not to a stupid extent.

Welcome back to the real world, if you're ever needing an almost-mmo hit (just imagine you're soloing!) Dragon Age, Oblivion etc will suffice. If you're an Eve fanatic then X3-Terran Conflict is a good substitute.

All of them have saved game and pause functions - makes real life a lot easier!

Glad I've left MMOs too, I'll be honest they just don't make any sense to me anymore. It's pure grindfest or semi-hidden grindfest but ultimately they're all time sinks and I'd much rather be doing/playing something else.

We were in the right place at the right time.

If there was never another game like those early MMOs, I wouldn't be surprised. So much has changed now, including player attitudes, and development agendas.

No MMO dev these days would be happy with a niche audience, they all seem to want WoW-like financial returns. And thus we get endless WoW-a-likes.

1 less virtual Fedex come pest controller person! They just don't float my boat due to the commitment and what not involved :p But good for you!
