*** Final Fantasy XIII ***

For those that have completed Chap 13, any idea how much CP you need to max out stage 10 of the crystarium? Saving up now with the growth egg, and don't want to go over.

Guys, I just started the second disk, killed that plant boss thing, but still only having 2 people in parties, do they all join back up at some point or is it always 2 per team now? Bit annoying with 2 as not much variety :(

All characters will eventually join up again as it is the usual scenario.

The whole point of these 2-man parties is for storyline purposes and to teach you the game mechanics i.e. Paradigm Shift combinations.

bout 800k for lvl 10 on each role iirc

No, over 1 million I think. I had about 750k saved up prior to the game ending (when you unlock Level 10) and it was not enough, by a long shot, to complete 1 role.

And for the 3 non-standard roles it is I think over 2 million per role (although you are filling up 10 levels and there is significantly less spells and attributes to unlock).

Started farming Adamantoise's, although I'm not really strong enough yet to take one down (0 Genji gloves, characters barely over 10k health) so I'm going to the wussy route with Vanille summon and Death spam. Been very lucky though, killed 5 Adamantoises, got 3 Trapz and 2 Ingots \o/

I save at the point that is near the Adamantoise/chield area as there are 3 of them near there. So just run it after using an Ethersol, summon, down goes the Adamantoise, spam Death and hope. I've only had to retry a couple of time so it's going alright, at 80,000 CP each kill with a Growth Egg I'll be leveled up in no time so I can kill them properly, feels kinda.... "cheaty" doing it this way.

Might have a go at that myself, really need those Trapz, been stuck on these maxed out Tier 2 weapons since Ch11

Got a long way to go then, each char has about 850k stored up, and nearing the end of chap 13 for the first time. Was think of putting some into the other roles, but will keep on to it now then.

It's really easy to do, I run as Vanille (leader) / Hope / Lightning. Auto-Faith / Auto-Haste accessories on Vanille. Then just run in, summon, spam Death. Very worthwhile upgrading a Collectors Catalog to a Connesuirs (sp?) Catalog and preferably using one of each to up the drop rates so you don't end up getting nothing.

You'll need an Ethersol to regenerate the TP per fight, easy to do though as you can just buy a Speed Sash from Motherlode for 10k, a Mnar Stone from Moogleworks for 50k and a few Superconductors. Comes in around 72k, then upgrading it fully, use the Mnar Stone to convert it into the next item, then fully upgrade that to star level. Then dismantle it, you get a bunch of some item that sells for about 850 gil each and 1x Ethersol. You might lose some money in the end, but if you get some Platinum Ingots which sell for 150,000 each you should be okay.

How long are chapters 11-14? As I'm at the end of chapter 10 with ~ 22.5 hours played.

Chapter 11 can be as long as you want, as you can do the missions and levelling up. You can also do treasure hunting at a certain stage with the Chocobos.

The difficulty ramps up a bit too in 12/13. I can't remember how long 12/13 were as i was just trying to get through it. There is no chapter 14 btw.

I got sick of trying to farm those tortoise creatures, so I am now doing Mission 24 repeatedly. Reward is 1xMoonblossom seed (Sell for 6000GIL) and 12000CP with the growth egg. The mark is in the same room as the mission point so there is no treking involved, plus it only takes about 15secs to kill the mark. Anyone know if there is anything similar in any of the other missions ?

Okay well ive done 4 Missions in chapter 11 now the cieth stones arent giving me anymore ? or am i missing something ive found about 3 or possible 4 of the cieth stones around the starting area of chapter 11

I know this subject has been talked about a lot so if you are not interested in a FF fan moaning about this game and having a mini-rant, then just scroll down to the next post. :p

I knew about the negative aspects about this game before I bought it but the linearity is really starting to annoy me. I am just starting chapter 6 and up to now the game really is not grabbing me at all.

I have just finished chapter 5 in The Gapra Whitewood and the level design was awful in my opinion. It is the same thing over and over again, it was almost like a FF version of groundhog day. What really made me laugh was that on the most linear level I have ever seen they even give you light beacons to guide you through it.

I also have issues with the shops at save points and the way that the characters and equipment levels up. I know you shouldn't always compare old with new but the thought is always in my head that the sphere grid and weapon system is much better in FFX. Just as the dressphere system in FFX-2 is much better than the paradigm shift. The level cap and ultra linear crystarium don't appeal to me either.

There are loads of positive things about this game though, cutscenes and story are amazing, characters are really good too. I thought I would hate Vanille after hearing her voice briefly but I have really warmed to her and find her quite a refreshing character.

So to summarise a long and probably boring post :p I will still finish this game, but with cutscenes and characters aside, I find the game very average.

If you bring up the map up in The Archylte Steppe and the other areas connected to it like The Yaschas Massif, Mah'Habara etc, look carefully for any Cie'th Stone icon that is flashing, blue or orange (Which are the teleport ones), as these will be new. You can also look at the checklist to see which ones you have done or activated and they are numbered in order as well. It can be pretty difficult to know where certain stones are if you don't have a guide and especially as new ones popup after completing a certain mark, so the map method is the only option.

hey, i felt exactly the same way, i literally had to force myself to sit down and play it for longer then 10 mins to get through some of the earlier chapters, but stick with it, im on chapter 9 atm and the story is finally going somewhere and has been for the last couple, the combat is also much better now and really quite fun, its just a shame its taken 15 hours to get to a point where im really quite enjoying it
