***Nvidia GTX480 & 470 reviews & discussion***

each to his own.....it`s his hobby so why not if that`s what he really wants. Fair play to him I reckon....my hobbies cost WAY more...£1500 isn`t so much to spend on what you enjoy most.....:D

My hobby is correcting people's spelling, grammar and punctuation errors.

I noticed you used the wrong symbol for an apostrophe, the one you want is the one on the "@" key. :o:p

Your posts make no sense.

Ferraris allow you to go bloody quick and have fun on roads/track.
Tri-SLI has no benefit (well discernible benefit) in any decently made game currently out there

PSu currently is a tagan 1300w. Since i am not going to put the third card in (except to check it works) until I water cool, I will see what draw I have from a single card with furmark and prime running, add a second and see how it increases, then add on that difference, account for 80-85% efficiency and see what number i come out with.
Currently draw a max of 936 (from wall) with oc'd cards so should be ok.

Yes I did say I am going to water cool them, since I already have the loop cooling my 295s. Hopefully I wont need a second rad on it though, since I dont want to have to mount anything externally, and ive already got a black ice 120.2 and a thermochill 120.3 in my case, with 2 res and pumps etc taking up rest of the "spare" space.

Yes, it is my hobby, and I love new shiny things. Due to my current set up, it was a little hard to get dx11 support, without downgrading my fps, so meh. It's also something to do, and i bet it will look sweet, as i get to change the colors in my loop at the same time.

If anyone specifically wants me to run a benchmark or two at 2560 with my current setup vs 480 1/2/3 then tell me now as i obv wont be able to compare it once i put the 480's under water. Although I wont be putting the three in until mid april at the earliest, depending on EK supplying me with blocks.

Whats funny, is the fact im currently building a new HTPC (speccing it up) and trying to do it relatively cheaply, and trying to justify it to myself as a worthwhile purchase. I mean, I do have a media centre but its a p4 with a 7950gt, so it needs replacing. Yet this new one, is coming it cheaper than one card for my main rig, and im not sure if its worth it..whats up with that?

If you are extremely rich, why not buy the best.

There are factors to consider other than speed, were that not the case the X1 rocket plane would be the best commercial aircraft, the SSC Ultimate Aero would be the best car in the world and so on :p

While they are faster for the most part, they have some huge caveats.

So rich people who buy Ferrari's, overly big houses e.t.c. are stupid

The point is that the GTX480 is arguably NOT the best.

You WILL get better performance from an overclocked HD 5870 than you would do with a GTX480, fact.

It might technically be the "best" in a few situations out of the box, but it's not "the best end of", a GTX480 simply doesn't have the overclocking potential, so for anyone wanting the best performance, a 5870 with overclocking IS the best.

if i was rich i would buy 3x480 just to make you angry. thats why its called "rich"

All that statement has done is make you look petty and small minded enough to get your jollies from other people's puzzlement and discomfort.

Well done.
