The official I kinda suck at BFBC2 but play for the lolz thread

Played my first match last night on our clan's hardcore server (also my first match ever :)) and got a 2:17 kill death ratio :D

But it was loads of fun, just takes a lot of getting used to.

What servers are people playing on from here? and what newbie games should i be playing? Ive been into online FPS since year dot, but im finding this game real hard!! Fun though :)

The opening post in the main BFBC2 thread has all the OcUK server details :)

Just own at this game, 65-23 last round I played on port val, ns2000 Is such a fun gun, love killing m60 ****s with it, boom your dead, Iz got a more OP weapon than you.

Am currently unlocking the medic line (with the view to doing the others next) - just unlocked the M60, but doesn't seem to suit my playstyle prefering the saiga!

Found a brilliant server last night, and was on White Pass. Ran into the house at flag B to revive a squad member, for him to jump out of the house and the house fall on me!

As above, I'm pretty crap but am still loving it. Getting pretty ****ed off with every else having the decent unlocks and I'm still stuck on the crap weapons.

This is my single biggest problem with the game. I know that eventually I'll have the same kit, but at the moment I seem to spend half the time dying to kit that I don't posses.

The whole buildings-falling-on-you thing took me by surprise a few times. I'm used to being completely safe behind flimsy corrugated iron fences ;)

If you aim your RPG at the top of the building near one of the corners, it will collapse and drop. I managed to kill 8 people by doing it.

Nothing like thinking you're safe inside a house only for half the wall to explode.
Yes...I was camped out in a house last night happily sniping ***** as they approached us. I then decided to switch to another location, turned around and realised that I had fallen to the ground floor because half the house was missing.

I do love how everything just gets flattened in this game :)

But I am missing voice comms of console.

I bought a bluetooth dongle and connected up my PS3 headset, only to dicsover that it's not as simple as that, and have no idea what to do to get it working in-game. That PS3 version is calling out to me.

i get pwnt so much its un fair now!
In a tank - i am good,
Sniper - i am fairly good

So, i am good at what 90% of the players hate.

:(

Is everybody still sniping?

When the game was released I played quite a lot but everybody choosing recon and ignoring the objectives just made me want to not bother.

It's more a mix of; Sniping, Mortar's, LMG's, although shotguns are starting to make an appearance now. Getting killed from far away with a shotgun is rather unrealistic despite it's a game. I always thought shotguns were close encounter weapons.

Cool thread, I definitely fall into the 'OMG0DZER N00B SUXZ' category. Currently playing through the single player campaign to get used to the game, it's very different from L4D :p

Anyhow, it's annoying that the 'Join Game' link in Steam friends list doesn't work, or is this me?

Mostly enjoying the game.

I think the way that experienced players get better kit and upgrades as well as the knowledge of how the game plays and the layout of the maps makes it really hard for new players to get into, there must be a fair few players who play once and decide its not a lot of fun and never play again.

As a new player your only option is the noob tube and has probably led to its prevelance.

Really new players should start with all the unlocks and gradually lose them as rank and experience is gained, that might level the playing field. Never going to happen though.

I dont see the point in permanent rank in FPS games. They are not MMOs, and jumping through hoops while you play doesn't add anything to the game imo. And there's plenty advantages already for being an experienced player, so despite now having all of the unlocks I don't like the extra performance gap that it creates. It's just unnecessary.

That's how I felt....when I realised that is was just a stupid timesink just to play the game properly. I was told that it's like an improved version of CS. GTFO, in CS I at least didn't have to work my rear end off just to get a half decent gun that went "phut phut".

It's even worse in CS since the winning teams get better guns. At least in this both teams will generally have similar levels of kit. It just sucks being much lower level then everyone else.
