Hi all,
I hope i'm not breaking any rules by doing this, I need your help in finding a complete cylinder head for a 1.9 tdi 130 bhp awx for around the £200 mark. It is to go on my 2002 Passat. I have searched all my local breakers yards, I have been glued to a popular auction site for weeks with no luck at all.

Do any of you know where I could look so I can get my car back on the road?

By the way I am located in Basingstoke.

help!

Finding just the head could be hard, the derv lumps tend to sell as whole units, try asking on a forum, UKpassats might be your best bet they have a for sale and wanted section.

Is your cylinder head beyond repair?

Unforunately so, it's my brother in law who is doing the work for me, he's a qualified mechanic. He said he had removed the damaged valves and discovered the head had also been damaged

Most garages will have contacts who supply reconditioned engines and cylinder heads on an exchange basis. I'd ring round the local indys and see if they can help. If there's any VW or diesel tuners to call, try them too.

Thank you. I have tried a few of these companies that sell reconditioned heads but they are still asking £400~£500 plus the old head :(

Good shout on the Indys.

Surely the fact you can't find any at the money your prepared to pay is an indication of the fact they aren't that cheap?

As has been said you'd be better off looking for a complete lump Without ancillarys from a crash damaged motor as nobody is going to split a decent lump to sell a head.
At least this way you have a chance of getting a Decent low mileage lump to sling in that hasn't already had the cambelt go like your old one. (<guess)
In my opinion a Derv lump Never goes back together the same once the heads been off.

Looks like this is the best bet.

Thanks
