If this is true (and it seems a rather accurate examination) this is insane. The most expensive game ever made and a massive gamble.

They are putting a lot of store in voice acting, storyline and decisions. The only other MMO to attempt this - Age Of Conan - the first 20 levels had all this and I don't know anyone that didnt just go "next next next next" and skip all the tl:dr crap.

Thoughts?

150 mill is nowt compared to other games.
lol wut?! :p

Modern Warfare 2 cost about fifty million dollars - and even that was considered a lot!

I'm glad they are spending a lot of money on it! I hope they spend a lot of time as well to make it perfect for release :)

They weren't playing it properly.

First time through I listened to everything. Next time when I knew the storyline I clicked through.

Same with Mass Effect and ME2.

A big risk indeed. I guess if it took off and got WoW level attention then it would pay off in the long run :)

I think Transformers cost about the same to produce and when you consider that this is a video game that is a hell of a lot.

What games would these be? Only a few years ago, games like Halo started breaking $10m barrier. As someone said MW2 cost $50m but they spent around $200m on advertising the game - but what do they care, they made over a $1b back.

It has the Starwars name and if it delivers as half as good as the hype I think it will make a huge amout of profit.

Most of that will go into art assets and voice acting, won't it.

The thing about games is, great designers cost relatively little, and can pay the biggest dividends.

Fancy graphics cost the Earth, and can't save a bad game from being... bad.

Well if they are looking for the sort of production values that Dragon Age had, but in an MMO then that would certianly cost a lot, but $150m? That can't be right.
