New Card Must Share Joy (XFX 5970 BE)

update:
Got a phonecall from them asking if i wanted a xfx 5970 as they got a couple coming in. I held my ground and said no i still want my refund, to which he said "thats fine its getting processed.
Is it just me or is this taking a while:p
 
We have a large 5970 Black Edition delivery on the way will update you on firm eta and quantity nearer the time.
 
The BE are a bi*ch to get hold of. Not sure if they are worth the wait but there must be some good ones in the pile :) I didnt get one but still.

Just phoned them up, and at last a positive comment. They told me my refund has been completed today and all of £514 will be in my account in a couple days.
So ive got to pay for my motorbike service this week and maybe buy a rear hugger for my bike. So im hoping i can afford a new card on the 22nd and fingers crossed OcUk will have them still in stock.
 
A joke to be honest. Will never buy anything from these rats. Ever. You have more patience than me Bakes. I would've had a solicitor on them by now.

I have a lot of stock in at the moment. But at the rate they are selling out I can not guarantee that there will be stock available on the 22nd.

can you have a gtx 280 for phyx and a ati 5970 on the same mb ( asus maximus iii formula?) for the ati 5970 i will have to buy a psu.

Going by your site you got two different 5970's with 10+ in stock so i like my chances:)

Questions:

1) I plan to overclock no further than the CCC allows, so would a XFX BE be wasted on me, or should i just get a different one like the saphire as i will not be using XFX overvolt tool?

2) How high can you overclock on the CCC and is it easy?
 
Unless you Cool the GPU you will never get past CCC. When i say cool i mean LN2.I have Subzero water and cant get past CCC. 1090/1310 is about the max. Unless you are going to water cool dont evan bother with anything but a std 59 if i was you just get a 58

Its easy todo just up the volts and upthe speeds. BUT YOU MUST KEEP AN EYE ON THE TEMPS!!!!!!! Mine when it was on a std cooler and std Volts would get to 90c+ that was @920/1200

I GOT MY MONEY AT LAST:D

So this morning at 9ish i ordered myself the xfx 5970 BE and at 10ish i got an email saying its being shipped ready for tomorrow:D
 
Now i got some questions:

1.Going from a nvidia card to a ati card is best for me to format my pc or can i get away with just unistalling the drivers normally followed by using driver sweeper?

2. anything else i should know?

I formatted mate. Just to be sure. Might be okay with driver sweeper but meh, just backup your data and format, wasn't an issue for me as i dont keep data on my local pc.

2, you may need to flash your bios of the card if you want to icnrease its fan speed from 30% (The bloody thing sticks at 30% and wont budge)

Other than that, enjoy.. :)

Is flashing the bios on the card easy, it sounds a bit scary:p

Edit: i think ill try without the format first of all, then if it doesnt go to plan a format will have to do.
