Yikes, £299 will never get that sold. PS3 can do youtube and iplayer all day long, sky player on 360. Ofcourse having both isn't ideal, but a lot of people will have one already. Add that to the growing list of media players that can do it and its not worth the money.

EDIT: Didn't realise it was a PVR also. I guess thats not too bad a price, considering the Humax T2 is still £180 ish, thought I expect that to crash over the next month.

The 3view box looks like it can do everything...

1. Freeview+
2. Dual Tuners
2. High-Def.
3. 320GB or 500GB HDD
4. EPG and Series Link
5. BBC iPlayer
6. YouTube
7. Video, Music and Pictures
8. Opera 10 Web Browser - Opera is a fantastic browser
9. Facebook and Twitter

That seems quite good but I do think it should be priced a little lower, around £250ish

1 feature I really like about 3view, is that you can go backwards in the tv guide, select a tv prog you want to see, then it pulls the prog down from the net. I guess this feature will only be available on the main channels tho, but give it a few yrs to mature and you never know.

I'm confused about the pricing. Virgin Media's HD PVR service costs £49 up front, offers more HD channels, and allows you to record two channels whilst recording a third. It also upscales SD to a very high standard and includes free support for the life of the contract / unit.

This seems vastly overpriced, though for people that cannot get cable or bolt satellites on their building, I suppose it's an option.

This doesn't require a monthly contract, Virgin and Sky do.

Virgin's M service has no monthly fee if you have a phone line with them.

£12 p.m. line rental and £7.95 on top of that for unlimited national calls to UK landlines and Virgin mobiles. I also get a multi-service discount. Not sure how that compares.

Yeah but it's cheaper :confused:

Secondly you also get HD on demand content via iPlayer, ITV netplayer, and VM's library. You don't get that on Freeview.

Thirdly VM are adding more HD channels in the near future (to all packages) as fibre optic cable bandwidth is much greater than that of Freeview.

Fourthly, you can upgrade to more HD channels at any point, you can't with Freeview.

Yeah, the catch is that you have to subscribe to their phone line.

Yea but all those points aren't really the point of Freeview. Freeview is FREE and will always be free. Even if you get the M package with the phone line, you are still paying something a month for it, which people don't want.

Freeview are getting more HD channels in the future too. No point in saying that VM will get more, because obviously they will and you are paying for them. Freeview will get more free HD channels too.

The On Demand stuff on the M package is extremely limited. You need to pay an extra £7 a month at least for the TV On Demand to get any benefit.

Tbh i don't see why you are comparing a subscription service to a free one. Doesn't make much sense. People want to pay a one of fee and be done with it forever. £299 is just the RRP for this, it will go down.
