would a 480 be cooler and quieter than a 295?

see title :)
after seeing the benchmarks for the 480 im tempted to replace my 295 with one but i cant seem to find anywhere that compairs the temps and noise of my card and the 480

Well my single pcb 295 loads at about 75c and in my case (fortress 2) i can barely hear the fan. The vids hardocp showed of the 480 show that it runs very hot (90c+) and very loud.

My dual PCB 295 is about 90c under load in dx10 games such as metro 2033, bfbc2 etc. and as such runs at 100% fan speed which is really loud, this is with a large case and good airflow.

The videos here seem to sound slightly quieter to me than my dual PCB 295, but I dont think there is much in it.

Performance wise they seem to be very close to each other aswell, so doubt it would really be worth upgrading to a gtx 480 purely for noise reasons unless you especially wanted to be able to play in dx11 mode for the newer games.

thanks for the links guys, i must have missed that comparison chart :)

it was mainly because of the noise and stability of a single pcb over a dual, they get higher minimum framerates if im correct?

i think ill wait a while tho and see how it goes

Why not just get 2x 5850s or a 5970? GTX480 is an absolute joke.

i would but i hate not having options enabled in games & the added nvidia effects in just cause 2 are excellent :p maybe when im sick of the game ill think about going over to ati :)

Single pcb 295 is much cooler than the dual pcb model I have noticed.
how would i tell what model i have?
