Yer...OK...I'll take one....Elise+

Well done to the yanks for completely failing to understand what makes the Elise such a great car.

*sigh*

This wasn't the 'yanks' misunderstanding the Elise (a car which seems to have quite a following in the States, funnily enough....). It was a way for Hennessey to build themselves a supercar to go chase Veyron speeds without having to develop a chassis tub from scratch.

I remember seeing the '20 inch' Elise at Janspeed.

Custom billet crankcase and crank with two R1 heads on to form a V8 engine that fitted in 20"x20"x20" cube.

Saying that atleast the V8 yank thing is all NA, should be drivable, more so than a boosted 1.8 VAG lump. What sort of weight is that engine.

The point is they have a history of "more is better" and in this case "Too much is perfect". If you want to make a car to take on an insanely powerful heavyweight like the Veyron, why on earth would you start with a car whose reputation has been earned by it's light weight and the fact that it's not corrupted by too much power? This is like the people that put massive V8s into Lotus 7 style cars, completely missing the point of them.

Just because the Elise is an awesome car when powered by <100kg of K series or Toyota engine, doesn't mean it's going to be remotely useful with a massive V8 in the back of it.

they do several different versions

the 1000bhp plus one uses twin turbos

exactly. I think it will really struggle to get its power down. Look at the size of the massive rear tyres on the corvette ZR1. and thats only 600 and odd bhp.

lmao at the press article that shows he was experimenting with nitrous ... using a customers car without their consent. He then (presumably out of his depth here) blew the engine up.

LOL makes john thorne look like an amateur like fett said.
