So Im upfor an upgrade soon. Limited to only from the Lenovo range.

Im not looking for a big laptop. I had my eye on the Edge Thinkpad, but the screen seemed just a tad small, even though its a 13", but I think the widescreen aspect ratio makes it look smaller compared to a 4:3 which I have at the moment on my current laptop.

Any thoughts/opinions/recommendatons?

Im edging to do the same as this thread with a Lenovo setup:

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18125457

but ive got the same thoughts as you cavallino. Which lenovo?

Think im gonna go for a x200 setup. where can you get a x301? its listed on the site, but you cant purchase from them.:confused::confused:

Tbh, the X200 doesnt have a track pad which I want really.

I was thinking about going down the Thinkpad Edge route... my boss has one and theyre not bad, although the screen is like glass and you can see reflection in it

yea, just seen the video for it. definitely got something going for it. altho it doesnt have a dock, which is my requirement. ;)

Ive got the x41, which doesnt have a trackpad. you get used to it very quickly (+not having a dvd drive). the nipples are a lot more accurate.

I've never got on with the nipples (no pun) tbh.

It is a tidy laptop, I will have another look at my bosses tomorrow, although hes got the AMD version and I want to try and swindle for an Intel version.

Any idea what "HD Glare" is? (in relation to screen).

cavallino...any update with your search?

ive noticed that the x201s has been pulled. you aware of any refreshes/announcements? Im in a pickle now. ive moved onto the x100e... although the edge + items coming off the website as put a spanner in the works.

humm...im a thinkpad fan boy. i wont choose anything else.

i might just have to go on the bay, or save some up for a top spec 201.
I want something with a decent doc, and i know the thinkpads have one.

Hey bud.
It looks like a Thinkpad Edge for me. (13" affair with the Dual core AMD cpu).
But not received anything yet.

i have an X200. i'd rate it as the best built laptop in the world at the moment.

the "Edge" isn't built anywhere nearly as well as the "proper" thinkpads.

if you're looking for a new thinkpad then i'd recommend an X201 (w/i7) or a T410 depending on your screensize requirements. the X300 is very impressive but doesn't have the space/heat/electrical space to house the high-spec CPU's of the X201 or the T410

<edit>

Trackpoints are so much better than touchpads in so many ways - please please please don't count the X201 out because it doesn't have one!

Ordered a x201 last night. Last day to get discount on x201 and T410.

Got this for just over £1.1k. I’ve had my x41 for nearly 5 years and want to move to a decent laptop with a decent dock, so I can justify the price tag. Regardless, it’s a nice spec at a decent price. The x200 base is over £100 anyway, that thats in the 1.1k price.

Congrats! :)
I havent got anything yet though :(

I was lucky enough to buy a mint condition, in warrenty S12 off of the bay for £130!! Obviously the guy selling it didn't have a clue what he was selling. Upgraded the ram to 2gig and put win 7 on it and it is awesome. Great netbook with a superb battery life too!!

Checked it with Lenovo and it is all above board (Didn't fall off of a back of a lorry)
