Hi all, I need an mp3 player to use at the gym. I don't need it to do anything fancy other than play music, have a random play function and preferably playlist function, be small and light, have a screen so I can see what I'm doing, so not a Ipod Shuffle type unit, have quite decent battery life, at least a couple hours playback time, transfer files via drag and drop, be chargable via mains and I think 4GB will be enough storage.

I've looked on a few large retail sites and seen a few that sort of fit this picture for around the £30 price mark. I don't need it to be top of the range as I am not an audio enthusiast and it will just be chucked into a gym back at the end of every work out. Just hoping one of you guys clued up on these things could point me in the direction of which one to buy in this price bracket and which to avoid.

Thanks!

I would suggest the Sansa Clip+, however you require mains charging, not sure if you can get usb wall chargers...

Yea the sansa clip plus 8gb is easily one of the best mp3 player out there at the mo can add up to a 16gb memory card to it as well.
A lot of player for £39-99 total bargain.

A used ipod shuffle 2nd gen, very tough and convenient too. Ive had mine about 3-4 years now :D

The new 3rd gen one is rubbish imo, i wouldnt bother with it.

i use my old 2gig ipod nano in a sleeve with one of those neck strap dongle thingies you can get (bunny tooth things lol) and its more than adequate. Easy menus, old so not worth too much any more and if its just for gym then why do you need upwards of 8-16 gigs worth storage anyhow? :)
