Does anyone know if rules are changing on 'shot girls'

40 shots? What on earth? No way I could do 40 tequila shots or sambucca shots in a hurry :/
 
It should already be illegal.
They are supplying alcohol to be consumed onsite and thus require a personal licence (Licensing Act 2003).

Section 111 ss.1(b) states
Personal licence means a licence which authorises that individual to supply alcohol, or authorises the supply of alcohol (1(b))
ss.2 states that the reference to an individual supplying alcohol is to him -
supplying alcohol by or on behalf of a club to, or to the order of, a member of the club.
(ss.2(b))

This essentially means that anyone who is supplying alcohol to a member (the punter) of the place requires a licence. So yes, it's illegal for a shotgirl to supply booze without a licence.

If the clubs main 'event' is the displaying of Morris Dancing, then you can serve alcohol without a licence! (Licensing Act 2003, Schedule 1, S.11)

True, I went out around York (Don't even think about doing it, seriously... You'll regret it) And it got to the point where I got so sick of them asking I bought some UV paint (UV night - classy) and painted on my shirt "allergic to Vodka"

They never came near me after that
 
Wahey, why wouldn't someone want to take a drink from a random chick wandering around the bar/club with an open bottle.

Obviously this isn't the case, there needs to be a licencee on the premises, however most bar staff won't have a personal licence.

This I think is where the problem comes in, I'd imagine they're stopping the ones who go bar to bar and aren't actually employed by that bar (I'm not sure how it works, the ones I usually see are Jaegermeister girls, presume jaeger give the bar a kick back to allow it. Ones who are employed by the bar directly aren't doing much more than table service for shots really.
 
Never seen one, then again the kind of girl who could carry around a barrel of beer and a pump isn't likely to attract much custom :)

Not sure why they should ban it though, ban serving alcohol to those who are already drunk would be more sensible.

already illegal, just need clubs to enforce it more stringently. Pubs tend to already as they have more chance to weigh people up.
There is a particular club in Manchester that as much as it's frustrated me in the past is really on the ball about it, if the bar staff think you're too drunk, you'll be asked to leave by the door staff before you get served.

You dont need a licence to work on a bar. You need a licence to own/manage a bar, and a licence holder must be on site at all times.

The same principal would apply to Shot Girls. They're just bar staff.

(Unless as stated they're putting a stop to girls not employed by the licence holder but by the Breweries and Drinks companies).

So the general basis is provided they are employed by the bar/club then they are technically, like any other member of bar staff there?

not much technically about it, they are a member of bar staff providing table service
