Initial reviews show no more than a 1 or 2fps difference when running 3 screens on a 1GB card compared to the 2GB v****nt. This could quite easily be within error margins, so for a 3 screen (1920) setup, it appears to be overkill.

If you're running higher resolutions, so 3x 27" or 3x 30", then there could be a benefit I guess, but there's probably not too many people doing that.

Haha, these cards are just going to let the "nvidia fanboys" have a dig at these considering the price.

However, there isn't many people that would run 6 screens, so these are for the rich mo-fo's. So the standard 5870/5850 is still the best gpu.

The card is aimed at people who want to run 6 screen Eyefinity. Anyone with a "normal" setup probably wouldn't (and shouldn't) consider this.

Though the best move for ATi would have been to release it with cherry picked cores and a high clock speed.

Its a specialist card for enthusiasts with six screens, it's not out to be performance king, being so specialist it can demand a premium.

They price their products in accordance to how much their competition (Nvidia) costs.

The higher the price of ATI cards, the worse that Nvidia must be doing



Trifire is garbage according to the Guru review on it. Whereas 2 card crossfire works in around 85% of games, trifire only seems to work in about 40%, and then you also get lower performance in some games with 3 cards as opposed to two.

I would like a link to that review as im planing on going TRI.

You know you can use these cards outside of gaming, where having vast amounts of screen real estate is useful?

You could also set it up in two groups. One group of 3 screens to game on, whilst at the same time having another group of 3 to run desktop apps on.

Can you xfire these for 12 displays?

I work for a company that provides photo systems in theme parks. If I could output too 12 displays from 1 PC, it would be very nice for support purposes and the costs would be quiet economical compared to how we do things right now.
