Matt Black, yay or nay?

BMW: No
American muscle car: Yes

Lambo, not sure really - I quite like them in bright orange, but that's just me.

The ultimate in matt blackness :-

How do you wax it? That's right, you can't.

Imagine how tatty it'll look in 5 years.

It will have a clearcoat so you can apply wax or sealant, just like any other car, it's not just bare paint on a matt or satin job. If it's a wrap, same applies.

But the clearcoat will be matt which would go shiny if waxed.

I don't get the matt paint fad. If i saw a matt black car, i would have to resist the temptation to use a piece of chalk on it. (in reality i'm not partial to defacing other peoples belongings, but there are those out there that would) Matt black objects tend to mark easily anyway, just rub you hand across it and it goes grey as it has bits of skin ingrained, its like having a car coated in fine grade wet & dry paper. (A bit like a new canon camera has a matt black finish that marks easily and once its a few years old and used it goes shiny anyway

You'd either have to be ludicrously rich or a fool to paint a car matt black imo, a wrap is the way to go since as already mentioned, it's a fad that will die out soon (And the quicker the better).

looks good on super cars and not all.. Lamborghini Murcielago in matt black do look brill.. on cars like m3/m5 etc it looks very tatty..

This is a nicer look on anything but muscle imo. A slightly shinier matte, satin I guess. You can see its not as metallic as the van behind, but not nearly as chalkboardy as the previously mentioned cars. Looks great, adds a weird depth to it.
