Does anyone know if rules are changing on 'shot girls'

Strange, wonder if there is some sort of loophole? I know that (up here certainly) there was a recent change (within the last few months) where all bar staff had to undergo additional training and have a licence in order to serve drinks. The manager also has a licence but it is a different one.

The new training reinforced things like not offering people 'the usual' etc when they came in as it could be seen to encourage drinking (stupid I know). It also covered lots of other things which did seem a bit silly, but it definitely seemed to be aimed at promoting 'drinking sensibly' and not encouraging drinking. So it does seem odd that shot girls are allowed to go round selling drinks.

I'd be glad to see them go, it's irritating.

So the general basis is provided they are employed by the bar/club then they are technically, like any other member of bar staff there?

Oh, turns out the law in Scotland & England differs - I assumed, foolishly, that they would have comparable acts in place. My mistake, sorry.
What I said stands true for Scotland, though in a different act.

It's just as well you don't have to pay for it if you make it to the end, you'll probably be incapable of moving or any concious action by that point.

I don't mind the shot girls going round - they don't encourage me to drink any more than I would normally, if I'm going to buy a shot they save me waiting at the bar, if I'm not then I can politely refuse and they go on their merry little way.
