Anyone GTS 250 owners here? Anyone know if there exists a GTS 250 1GB which has a reasonably quiet fan, at least at idle?

I once had an Asus GTS 250 (which I sent back) and the fan on that was incredibly noisy even on the desktop. Although the performance of the card was good, I couldn't live with the noise. And it was one of the lower powered, 55nm versions as well.

I would like to try another one but from googling I see a lot of people complaining about loud GTS 250 fans, so I'm wondering if they are all like that?!

When you read user reviews people don't often seem to mention the fan noise but to me it is important because my home is quiet and so is the rest of my PC.

I was going to say, don't get the Asus haha. I have that one for physx and yes it is so noisy, really bad. But I have the fan set to 0% and have 2 apache blacks blowing down on it and the 280. Keeps it really cool and quiet :)

The Palit one is quiet once its in windows as there's no bios fan control. It's done by the driver. In fact it's pretty quiet in game as well, as in there's no noticeable increase in volume.

Hmm after you said that I just had a look on a large US retailer's site (actually I can probably say their name as they don't ship to the UK - newegg) and found reviews of this model, NE3TS25EFHD02 - one reviewer says:

Good but a little loud

Pros: Not long, easy to install, 1gb memory.

Cons: There is a little whine when fan kicks in past 40 percent. I am using this card until fermi comes. All in all good increase from my 8800 GT akimbo.

I guess it's all subjective!?

Just in case anyone else searches for this question in future, I bought a 1GB GTS 250 which has a quiet fan - the Sparkle X250G is very quiet.
