Ok, i think im going to asia within the next 2 months and my passport is totally tatty and the photo is basically ripped so i wont be able to get out of the country unless i aint got a new one.

The predicament is i dont have any other id so if i send off my passport i cant go out for a few months which sucks. What ways can I apply for a new one?

How long does it take till the passport is sent back?

And could I report it stolen and just use my passport till then in clubs etc? and is there any longer processing time if I report it stolen? Cheers

Straight from the passport site under "The Supporting Documents":

Apart from the completed application form and two recent identical photographs, the only supporting document you need to send is your current or last passport

I applied for my first passport a few weeks ago and whole thing took just over 3 weeks and that's including having to arrange an interview for me.

It does not take a few months to get a new passport.
Surely it's easier to look up the relevant website than post here?

You can get a passport in a day if your willing to pay the cost.
How the hell do you rip up a passport anyway? they are fairly tough and the newer ones the photo page is basically plastic with an RFID in it.

Do the passport form online too : Saved a bit more time for me anyway

£75 for new passport

Don't do this and just as a future point of reference don't post on a public forum that you might commit fraud before you do so. It's really not a very wise idea.

IPS were pretty quick when I applied for a new passport recently, about 3 working days all told so depending on when you apply you might miss one weekend at worst. If you're in a hurry then the Check and Send Service that the Post Office offers is probably worth the £8 or so as they will tell you if there are any problems with your application but if you're just replacing an existing passport without making any real alterations it shouldn't be an issue.
