Guys,
I am currently repairing a laptop that has got a burnt out powerboard. The laptop is a Packard Bell Easynote SW51-201 and after the laptop started to smoke I decided to strip it down and have a look.

The problem I am facing is trying to find a new one which to say the least is proving a little difficult.

I've added a couple of pics so you can see for yourself:

Any ideas guys where I could possibly get a new one as I very much doubt its repairable :D

Just seen the sticker on the USB port and it says Dragon, the part your after is 7414550000 google this and you will find a Dragon D Translation DC/USB board, they aint cheap though.

ah that looks very familiar. Is that from a Mitac based notebook by any chance :P

Theres a company i use to repair my laptops and customer laptops when it looks like a circuit board repair. There called mircro nano http://www.micro-nano-it.com/. Even if they cant repair they maybe able to get hold of a recon one.

And infact if you wait till I get homefrom my night shift I may have one lieing about which you maybe able to use.

Thanks guys oh and Matt I am not sure if its a Mitac based notebook. All I know is that its an Easynote SW series.

I will have a look at the website you have linked me to and it would be great if you had one at home. ;)

cheers

What annoys me is the fact you can buy a motherboard including cpu and ram for less than these powerboards cost, crazy

i can get the power boards for around £20 mate
the board you have there needs a Re-Flow and a new power inlet.

I was wondering if any other laptops bar the easynote SW51 that also use this same powerboard. Anyone have any thoughts?

yeh any aptops based on the Mitac 8615 use them.

Contact Micro Nano the company above and see if they can get you one, they maybe able to repair yours.

I emailed the company via the contact us link on their website and it would appear that the company has been bought out by PC2000 UK Ltd.

Were you aware of this?

I would ring them there website isnt the best.

My old company I used to own sent hundreds of laptops to them for repair and that was just before chirstmas. Did some googling and I found no mention of the 2 companies being together.
