Ok, so I think this likely to be pot hole related

Late last week I noticed that I could hear my car making an odd knocking noise on each rotation of the wheel. At the same time I noticed the left rear tire was always loosing a lot more pressure than the others each week.

I've arranged for someone to have a look at the wheel this weekend (I assume it's got warped from a pot hole), but in the short term as long as I kept the tire inflated, the noise went away, and I could feel nothing strange through the wheel.

Now this morning, I noticed a different noise, quite a bit louder, I can feel it through the wheel at times too. I've not been able to pin it down exactly but it seems load sensitive (different volume depending on which way I turn). It also seems to vary with speed. The one that has confused me a little is that if I lightly press the brakes, it will make the noise instantly every time.

I need to limp home from work on it tonight, but was going to take the wheel off at lunch and have a quick poke around to check the obvious . . . any ideas?

I'd be looking at the brakes as well as the bushes to see if there's anything loose - caliper, pad, disk, something stuck in it etc.

Yep, that's what I'm gonna do a lunch, see if there's anything odd going on there. I don't hold out much hope, but maybe I'll get lucky. If not, limp home and fix it over the easter 'holiday' :(

Yep, I remember a good few weeks back now there were some *epic* pot holes that caught that side of the car, though of course it could just be coincidence :(

So I jacked up the rear wheel, span it round, sounded pretty normal to me. Took the wheel off, looked at the disc/caliper and it all seemed pretty normal for a quick glance. I'll have to take a proper look later . .

So, I had time today to properly check all the wheels, and found out what it was. I am *not* pleased. Front wheel nuts on both sides were barely finger tight. This would be when the garage had them off without telling me when they finished up some work on the front end of the car for me. This is shortly after my alternator came loose when the pivot bolt fell off while driving due to being too loose.

I am livid, but have no way to prove any of this, so I'm not sure what steps to take.

On the plus side, I shouldn't have ever doubted the car! and I don't need to spend any more money on a bearing or anything.... and erm, they wheel didn't come off and kill me I guess.

I'm considering checking the same on my car tbh it sounds dodgey ATM and feels like it's going to lift off oversteer me into a barrier

All ways check your nuts after a visit to a garage i have heard so many storys of peoples wheels coming off because the mechanic did not check the nuts.
