I'd go for the UD5, its bit more expensive but it can do "proper" x8x8 crossfire (on the ASUS board, the 2nd PCIe x16 slot runs at x4 speed).

If crossfire isn't required and you want to spend as little as possible, then the P7P55D is a good board and overclocks well.

i'm sorry. i guess i didn't explain myself correctly.

i'm more looking after overclocking rather than crossfire. getting an HD5850 so i won't require crossfire ;)

With all these Asus boards you need to be careful, some can, and some can't do the proper crossfire.

The P7P55D deluxe can (2 X 8, +4) as it has three slots.

Its easier to just visit the Asus website and click on the specification tab of each board.

How about the latest P7P55D-E? Has sata 3.0 and usb 3.0

i doubt it makes any difference in real world performance. (my gf has the P55-USB3 apart from rubbish overclocking, it has basically no improvements over usb2.0)

as i said: i am into overclocking not crossfire.

Hi, I was deliberating between these very 2 boards, in the end i opted for the UD5 and all I can say is i'm very impressed. Currently got an i5 750 @4GHz on default voltage. Cracking board.

are the ram running at their rated speed? i mean. i'm looking for the patriot 2000MHz CL9 so i want atleast the rated speed (an overclock to 2100 would be nice though :))

my GF has the CL9 1600Mhz gskill. (red)

i can't manage to get anything more than 1620 no matter how much the voltage is. (from 1.5 to 1.66)

is it the GA-P55-USB3 being so crappy in overclocking or the ram?

I doubt it's the board more like the ram...have you tried slacker memory timings.

The memory i use are G-skill Trident [email protected] and they overclock.:p

Lol...Try CL 10-10-10-30 (CAS-TRCD-TRP-TRAS) and don't make so much of a high jump in mhz

What USB 3.0 device is she using? An external hard drive?

i tried a corsair 16GB and a western digital 1TB external. no difference in performance over USB2 on the same system. maybe 2mb/s more in read. but not much
