Hi

I have recently got Sky Player on my laptop and want to link it wirelessly to my TV if possible?

I'm using the Sky Player via Media Centre and it does mention about an extender, but I'm not exactly sure what that is?

Also if there some sort of remote control that I can get which will allow me to remotely control the Media Player?

Sorry if I've put this in the wrong category, feel free to move if that's the case :)

Thanks for any help guys

Well i dont think tvs have built in wireless so your left with VGA and HDMI (best option)
Yes you can get 'Official' Media centre remotes from well known auction site and a few 'computer shops'

I dont think wireless is going to happen. You would have to have a very good wireless network to do standard videos and you would not have a chance with HD.

You are better off with any of the standard monitor cables (which ever one applies to your laptop / tv). What connections does your tv have?

VGA and HDMI are standard on HD tvs and either will work well. But if you have an older tv then an s-video to scart connector may work if your laptop has that output.

As for controllers then I recommend a complete bluetooth keyboard / rollerball combo. That will give you full computer functionality and will allow you to surf the web (iplayer etc) etc while sitting on the sofa. Any remote you buy will drastically cut down what you are able to do with the laptop while it is plugged into the telly.

Thanks for your help.

It will only be standard definition that I'll be streaming. I have ordered a HDMI cable that has a connection one end that will fit my laptop and HD TV on the other end, although I'm aware it won't be HD.

I have decided that I will just place my laptop on the shelf when it is plugged in to the TV. I take it this would work fine?

I'd like to try and get some sort of remote control now that will work with Windows Media Player or ideally the Sky Player software. Therefore I won't have to keep getting up and using the laptop to turn the channel over etc. Can anybody reccommend one?

:)
