Sony Ericsson yesterday held an Xperia X10 press event for Dutch journalists and some interesting information emerged from it. According to AllAboutPhones.nl, Sony Ericsson confirmed that the handset will get the Android 2.0 (Éclair) update, thus enabling 16 million colours on the display. Android 1.6 (Donut) restricts the amount of colours to 65k, however the hardware is capable of displaying 16 million. They also confirmed a February release date for the handset.
AllAboutPhones also posted their initial impressions of the device. They felt the rounded corners of the handset made for a nice fit in the hand. They confirm that the white model has a glossy back cover, which attracts fingerprint marks. The black version however, has a matte black cover. They also have a few shots comparing the Xperia X10 to the upcoming Acer Liquid, which also sports Android 1.6 (Donut) and the 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset.
The UI has seen a dramatic improvement since those early impressions too, with AllAboutPhones finding it remarkably fast. They also confirmed that the Xperia X10 will have just one speaker and that audio quality was a bit soft. However, the screen was nice and had bright colours (imagine how much better it will be once Éclair comes along!)

Shows as in stock now at the Carphone Warehouse...

nice deal but no mention of web usage![]()

Looking forward to hearing what the guys that get this phone think.
I'm stuck between this and the Desire. Vodafone upgrade waiting but I don't know which to choose.
You: Which in your opinion is the better handset... x10, Desire or Legend ?
Shuhab: The Desire.
Shuhab: But if you use the camera then go for the X10.
I have just ordered it. I have stuck with SE as I have had their phones for the last 5 odd years and love their camera's.
The guy on the Vodafone chat help said when I asked....
Thats why I went with the X10.
I'm paying £35 a month. 900 mins, unlimited text, unlimited landline calls and 500mb data and email.
Can anyone find a better deal than £40pm (900mins, unlimited texts, unlimited web - £5 bolt on, free X10) with 02? Also does it cost anything to keep your number from a previous contract? Currently with 02 simplicity one month rolling contract.

Can't wait!!
