Not a kit suggestion but how about this for a kit clash!!

lol that would be really annoying to watch in real life

Anyone got any good 4-2-3-1 tactics? With the '2' being MCs & the '3' being 3 AMCs?

As good as my 4-1-2-1-2 tactic is, i fancy a change of system. :p.

Quite pleased though, 2017, 5 of my first team are homegrown, with 2 more by 2020. Meaning that by 2020, i should have a first team with 7 homegrowns!

First & 2nd Teams:

Quite pleased with my team.
The regens, Turkin, Angel, Bondi, Pellegrino, Ricardo & Varriale are all absolutely stunning players.
Turkin is the backup to Akinfeev in the Russian national team, got him for £4m, and already at 22 he's arguably better than Akinfeev!
Angel & Bondi are two world class DLs, who arnt yet 19 each yet! Ones better going foward (Angel), and the other is more solid at the back (Bondi), but still, for £30m for both of them at 16, well worth the money.
Pellegrino doesnt have as good a stats as a DC should have, but hes still very good, and puts in more consistant performances than Otamendi who is now worth £35m for me!
Ricardo, 22 years old, a cross between Fabregas & Flamini. Basically can tackle, is creative, can pass and has lots of stamina. Payed Roma £52m for him. Seems solid upto now.
Varriale is the next Gatusso from what ive seen. Although with a bit of Pirlo mixed in. :D.

Bargain of the team is Verratti. According to genie, he's 80% MC :D Not bad considering that my coaches kept telling me to get shot of him, kept him anyway as i liked his stats, and then turns out to be a stunningly good MC!

Gonna have to replace Dzeko, Gourcuff, Motta & Hamsik soon though. All on the wrong side of 30.
Dzeko wont be a problem, have a good ST i bought off Real for £15m sat in my youth team whos pretty good. Motta & Hamsik, difficult, but not impossible.
Gourcuff, nigh on impossible. There are no good AMCs in my game! So im gonna milk him till he's 33 or i find a replacement. Forestieri is arguable better than him anyway, so Gourcuff can go in the second team when he starts faltering. :p

Anyone else find the EPL gets easier after the first couple of seasons because of the rules that get introduced?

25 team squad cap, 8 home grown players etc...

I'm just 13 games or so into my third season with Swansea now and really feel I'm punching above my weight in the league (I'm 2nd at the moment and have only lost once this season).

Won the Championship in my first season and came 10th (or 11th) in the Premier League the next year.

I'm banging goals in for fun, but I'm leaking them as well like nobodies business. I spent nearly my entire transfer budget this season on a better back line and to turn some loan players into permanent signings.

I made some awesome cheap signings though, in the championship I got Christian Vieri on a free, Juan Roman Riquelme on a free and Roque Santa Cruz for £500k from Man City because they wanted to get rid of him and he was fed up with not playing first team footy.

I also managed to bag Vagner Love a lot cheaper than I've ever paid for him in any other FM game (under £10m) and he pretty much single handedly got the team to 10th along with Riquelme and Vieri in my first season in the Premier League.

Santa Cruz joined at the start of this season and is doing really well for me so far, not biblically scoring but still a pleasing signing.

I've picked up a couple of regens in the game quite cheap who have bucket loads of potential by the looks of it.

Lol depends what sort of players you need with that (id look at frees as there's some beasts)

Yeah thats what happened in my Newcastle game (10.2 patch though), came across Riquelme on a free and he just creates goals from the midfield. Iv had to buy in Ali Karimi to soton to do the same job in l1.... (and i got vieri for free to l1 too)

How'd you play vierei?? Iv been playing with a few positions (as barnard and ALL my other strikers keep getting hurt by cheating l1 teams) but the closist to a consistently good role for him so far has been target man... Which i dont want as lambert is miles better at that...

Yeah I played Vieri as a target man up front along side a poacher, Vieri got 27 goals in 34 games in the Championship and 7 in 24 (11 games off the bench) in his last season with me in the Premier League before he retired.

Riquelme has been brilliant for me for a free and in 64 league games he's scored 24 goals, 28 assists and 9 MoM. All from midfield

Started a season with Livingston. :D

Won the League, but got knocked out of both Cups in the 3rd round.

Here are my first season transfers.

And these are my transfers so far this season. I like Scottish loan rules. :D

Half way through the second season and Birmingham job came available so I have gone for that to try and save them from relegation. :D

Signed, Jo, Diaby and Arteta to help the cause.

Currently 17th on 32 points, Sunderland are 18th on 30 points.

Last game of the season against Wolves who are 14th and Sunderland have Stoke who are 10th.

Dun dun dunnnn, let's see what happens.

edit--------->

Drawn 0-0 and Sunderland lost 3-1!

That was close!

I am beginning to get very frustrated with this.

I must just be crap :)

Ever since the last patch my players are constantly shooting from 30-40 yards out, rarely on target and just ruining perfectly good attacks.

"Thats his 1st...." is a message I am getting sick to death of, I can almost guarantee that everyone will score their first ever goal against my team. I can also almost guarantee that anyone who hasnt scored all season will break their duck against my team.

Got a striker with 20 finishing, who has scored 157 goals in 179 games in his career prior to coming to me, who has now played 60 games without scoring even once since his move and I have no idea why.

On top of all that, I am becoming increasingly convinced that matches are far tougher to win (and more often lose) when watching in 3D mode compared to not in 3D, though I have no understanding of why that should be.

Think I will just take a break from the game for a while and play some FPS :D

1st/5th/10th goal of the season etc I get a lot. Really, really do not like that aspect of FM.

I'm really enjoying this since the last patch (not specifically to do with the patch but I've been playing it a lot more since then, and I haven't had any long shot problems at all).

Started as Forest in the Championship and in the first season I scrapped though to the playoffs which I won :). Bought a couple of decent players for my first season in the Premiership then realised halfway through the season that I should have got a few more. Managed to hold on to 17th place on the last day of the season with an away win at Everton (6th). This was mainly due to my striker who was the Premiership top goal scorer with 24 league goals. The big turning point for me was at the end of this 2nd season when I got hold of the Squad Analysis spreadsheet and filled out all of the stat info. From that I realised that my defenders really were quite poor, so I splashed out on 3 defenders and a winger for the next season. I also adjusted the roles of some of the players to ones which suited their stats a lot better (thanks to the spreadsheet). On top of that, for the first time I had a proper look at the staff. I ended up clearing out most of them and hiring a load of decent coaches and scouts.

From this point on things got a lot better and the 2nd season in the Premiership was almost enjoyable :). We got some great results against the top teams (stuffing Man Ure 3-1 at home and getting points from Chelsea, Man City and Arsenal) and we ended up 9th after being tipped for relegation. A couple of results that should have gone my way would have seen us get a spot in Europe!

Then it all changed: in the close season out of the blue Roma (who has just finished 9th) offered me a contract which I couldn't turn down! Now I'm at Roma trying to bring in some decent players to strengthen the squad before the season starts.

I really would recommend the Squad Analysis spreadsheet which has been mentioned here before. It takes a little bit of time to fill out, but once it has been done it makes it a lot easier to see really how good your players and staff are, and what their best positions would be. It has definitely made my game more enjoyable.

Do you watch the matches in 3D mode?

Ever since the patch (didnt happen prior), my players run forward and constantly shoot from 30-40 yards. Very rarely since the patch do my players run into the box and then shoot, regardless of position or instructions they just hammer the ball from way outside the box

I always watch in 3D (extended highlights).
I know it's the obvious thing, but you've told the players not to shoot from distance, and you don't use the shoot on sight touchline tactic, and do use work the ball into box touchline tactic?

Certainly have, tried a variety of things. Still just run within sight of the goal and then whack it. Most daft occurence of it was last night when my uber pace 19 striker got onto a ball just over the halfway line. Nobody around him, he goes screaming off with the ball towards goal. 1 on 1, just him and the keeper in the goal mouth...then suddenly...whack...40 yards away from goal (in a 1 on 1) and he wallops the ball from miles out and skies it. My forwards shoot from range, my mids and my defenders on occassion.

As I say though, its only started doing it since the patch. Kind of got to the stage now where I just might get rid of all my team and replace them with people with longshots of 20 :D
