The tragic result of a nasty accident in Germany that took the life of a husband and wife and demonstrates that trees and cars are not meant for one another. :(

Very sobering.

Without any kind of motorsport roll cage...a tree is the last thing you wanna hit.....No give, no energy absorption...the car takes it all :-(

There was a picture of an Audi chopped in half after hitting tree...the guy walked away  See if I can find the pic.

I was just thinking of that Audi pic too, might have even been an RS4

I've been in a passenger in a crash involving a tree, they hurt!

Remember my old fella telling me of his first ever pursuit fatality when he was on traffic (back in the late 70's/early 80's), some guy wouldn't stop for whatever reason when they tried to pull him and sped off (he was known to the police for violent behaviour), they followed him for about 20 minutes before he lost it trying to go around a corner too fast (my old man was doing around 70/80 behind him), he hit a tree and this before the time seat belts were widely used. He went through the windscreen and headfirst into the tree, there was nothing left of him from his shoulders up. Took my old fella a while to get over that one.

As has been said, trees and cars dont mix.

Looking again at the images of the Porsche...the only saving grace is that death must have been virtually instant looking at the intrusion from behind into the front of the car. :( Very sad.

Ouch.

I've taken on a lamp post in the past and lost.

The fire brigade added insult to injury when they cut the roof off my car :D

By googling green gt3 accident, it would appear that witnesses said the 39yr old driver was travelling 'at speed' before the crash happened. Condolences to his and his wifes familly, but would appear at first instance to be a case of innapropriate speed for the road conditions.

the road in the back ground looks to be some sort of dual carraigeway type thing with a slip road.

without knowing the location of the accident its difficult to be more specific, but he could have gone into that tree at 60 and still not been speeding to produce that result

Look at that laguna vid i posted in the other thread. The two opposite ends of the bumper were touching ! and that was at only 55 mph.

An odd conclusion, not least as it was Germany and potentially therefore an Autobahn. It might have been a failure, a driver error, someone else's mistake or lizard people. A comment from a bloke does not a fact make...
