just wondering what my ati overdrive should be reading for defaults....ive enabled it to adjust my fan and wondering what should the other settings be for a 5870 vapor x at the moment they are
gpu clock 400mhz
memory clock 1250mhz
fan at 22 %

if i enable overdrive to adjust the fan myself it changes the values to
gpu clock 240 mhz
memory clock 300mhz
fan at say 50%

what do i need to set them on to make them the default values while overdrive is on thanks

If you are looking at the CCC pane then you won't be rendering any 3D stuff so the 'current values' at the bottom are not relevant.

The default 3D speed for the Vapor-X 5870 is 875Mhz core, 1250Mhz Memory (is multiplied by 4 to make 5000).
You will likely be able to just slide the speed up to the end (900Mhz and 1300Mhz respectively) without encountering any problems at all.
I have one of these cards (2nd on the way!) and it's not having any issues at all.

If in doubt, you can download GPU-Z to show your card's current speeds etc.

its on the normal settings and when i start battlefield bad company 2 its crashes after about a min just locks up and gives me a striped screen...any ideas thanks
do i need to reformat my pc as i replaced the xfx 4890 with this card to day or do i need to reinstall the games....and is there a program that can get rid of all my ati settings from the previous card thanks

So when set to default it still crashes? I'm not sure if there are any known issues with BF:BC2 but if it does that on other titles as well I'd say something is very amiss.

Click the defaults button in CCC Overdrive to set it back to normal.
Check your connections, check your power is plugged in securely.

Does it crash at stock? Does it crash on other games? Try running a Unigine Heaven benchmark or something else that will stress it, just to check it isn't solely BF:BC2 causing the problem.
Which version of the CCC drivers are you using? 10.2 or 10.3 would probably be best.

ok so i was getting problems in the game using catalyst 10.3 i have installed the drivers that came on the disc and it seems to work ok,is there a problem with the catalyst drivers as i usually bypass the disc and go straight to the ati website to get them has anyone else had this problem with this card thanks.

just gonna run the unigine heaven benchmark now be back in a few lol i know i was away jsut that the 10.3 drivers kept saying the inf file for the device is nowt correct this is why i went to the disc that came with the card.

ok i run the Unigine Heaven benchmark the first time it crashed near the end which i think was me pressing buttons then i ran again everything went ok that time and it gave me a score at the end

Is that screenshot taken when you had something else running in the background - game or benchmark or something? If it's not doing any work, the memory ought to be clocking back down.
My idle Overdrive page for comparison:

Your Heaven results seem to be about right - I only get a result 28.6 FPS on my rig.
Are you having any other issues with other games, or 3dMark Vantage? It might just be a weird BF:BC2 problem if you aren't :)

first of all battlefield bc2 crashes ...cod 4 mass effect 2 work fine...gonna install a few more games...any ideas why my memory isnt clocking down? thanks

had this problem with my XFX 5870 out of the box. Green thin and lines shows up even on desktop while nothing is running. I thought it was a hardware defect, so I sent it back for a replacement card.

That probably was a defect. It doesn't fit the description of the problems they are having.

hope this isnt the case cant be bothered messing about lol.

Did you download the file from the actual ATI site? it's 71mb size, i did that with my vapor-x 5870 i got this week and it's never had any issues so it should be fine for you. Also there's 2 vapor versions, one runs 850/1200 stock the other 875/1250 stock, not sure what you mean by memory speed clocking down though? i guess you mean it's not letting you lower it?

Whatever you clock your card at it should stay those clocks no matter what you are doing as far as i know unless i am missing some option but i am pretty sure they stay to what you set them to always.

If you haven't tried the 10.3s off ATI site try those.

thats were i tried them from...just dowloanding them of the sapphire site...i have not overclocked teh card just enabled overdrive like i do on my other cards to up the fan speeds.

If you are not overclocking or doing a mild one then keep fanspeed as auto.

Goodluck sorting it, smashing card once it runs fine especially on that monitor which i also have.;)
