hey guys - just need some advice please

recently my 8800gtx packed in after 3.5 years of constant use , my budget would only allow me £150 pounds worth of new card so i purchased a xfx 5770 xxx( which i must say im very impressed)

anyway my old evga card i thought i woud try and send back for warranty , even though i didnt register for the 10 year agreement - to my surprise they sent back a new card , not a 8800gtx but a superclocked gtx260 !

my plans are to sell the brand new gtx260 on ebay and buy another xfx 5770 xxx and crossfire them - basically my question is do i just slot the 2nd card into my crossfire slot join them up and away i go ... or is there a difficult process of settings within vista that i need to do first - my pc knowledge isnt that good so any tips will be much appreciated ,

many thanks and happy easter

ohh and how much do you think i could sell the gtx260 for ?

My 8800 gtx is also on it's way out and i'm thinking of going this same route.
As i understand, when you add another card in crossfire, CCC will recognise this and the two cards will then work.
If i'm incorrect, then i'm sure someone more knowledgeable then me will help you out shortly.

Stick in the the second PCi-Express slot. Link the two together with the 'CROSSFIRE' bridge and away you go :)

As you go into the ATi CCC you should see the option for Crossfire and be able to enable it from there.

One question though.. what motherboard is it? My 5770s didn't like being crossfired in 1x 16speed slot and 1x 4speed slot. So I had to get a different motherboard that did 16x Speed in both slots.

Was this an ABit IP35 Pro? It has 2x 16x PCI-E slots although the 2nd only has 4x bandwidth.

Curious as I am considering this route myself.

Sure was :o

HERE IS a link to the thread I made at the time. Although drivers might have fixed this issue now?

Hmmm, that probably puts paid to the idea of Crossfiring them on my board then.

Will either stick with my GTX260 or sell both it and the 5770 and replace with a single 5850, or maybe push the boat out and go 5870.

Thanks for the response
