Hi this is my first post so I apologise if its in the wrong section.
Im currently planning a new build, and its gonna be one of the i5 intel overclocked bundles. Im keeping my thermaltake tenor desktop case but im wondering if my Cooler Master iGreen Power 430W psu would be ok or will I need to upgrade it? I will be running 2 hard drives and 1 dvdrw. If its not enough could someone help me out with some suitable alternatives. Thanks in advance.

what graphics card are you aiming to get?

We need complete specs, graphics card?

You might be ok.

Thanks for such a quick response. I currently have a GeForce 7300 LE 256MB PCI Express 16X. This new build will be for music production, im not that concerned about playing games on it. When I get a new graphics card (which wont be for a few months after I get the bundle) I wont be spending more than £100 on one. Hope this is enough info.

Now-days 430watt psu is quite low but youll be risking it with the i5 overclocked bundle im sure you'll need a higher one, however i currently have a 530watt hiper and im currently running i7 920 @2.8Ghz.

My intial thoughts are that you should have enough power with that PSU but wait until you get a few more responses on this as there are for more knowledgeable people. It would be nice to know that you can save £50 or so by not having to dish out a new power supply.

On a side note though the i7 would better for music production and processing than the i5 but if you are on a budget stick with the i5.

This is a good guide to what your system will use mate..

Thats a great guide thanks, according to it im ok with 400 - 650. So I'll replace it in the end but just not straight away.

I would love to get an i7 but my budget doesnt quite run to one. And i've still got monitor speakers to buy..

Its got a 20+4pin ATX and a 4pin ATX.

You would need an adaptor, or I believe you can fit the 4pin into a 8pin aslong as its the correct way round.

It also depends if the motherboard your looking at has an 4 or 8pin header.

You need the Akasa pci-e to atx adaptor,£3.06.

It takes the power lead normally used for a graphics card and adapts it to the motherboard.

Your graphics card is low power so wont need this cable.

Any future card upgrades would need a new psu I think with suitable connections.
