Right as im umming and arring about what to do you guys can help me im currently got my eyefinity setup ready and here it is:

Eyefinity.jpg

Sorry cam phone pic :s

Currently im running a 4890 and running the centre and right screen off that and the left screen is my server.

Im going to be mainly using it for gaming BF:BC2, MW2, May even get into Crysis and the like and racing games too.

I also have my old 22" benq and another mount for the stand to put it above the centre screen which i want to use as a RDP screen to the server.

Now there is no active display port adapters anywhere so there is no point in rushing in and buying til they are available as i'll be in the same boat i am now but what i want to know is this.

a) Can i use a 4th screen on a x-fire setups second card if its an extended desktop? so group 1= 1x3 group 2 = 1

b) Should i get a 5970 4GB whens its available was thinking the Sapphire but then olnly 3 screens.

c) Should i get 2 x 5870 2GB Toxics which would then have the 4 displays needed if a) will work

Slam 2 5850s in, overclock, and wait until the 5000 series refresh matures and becomes cheaper.

single 5850 overpowers a 24 inch at stock, 2 plus an overclock will handle 3 screens i should think. Reference bf2, graphics just aren't an issue for me.

not too constructive, more of a bump.

why does everyone say "get 5850's then overclock them to the speeds of a 5870" when you can spend $100 more and overclock the 5870 with very high speeds for ultimate performance.

If you have the money I'd get two 5870s.

Because 5850s and 5870s generally overclock to the same speeds overall, which is around 1Ghz.

So the choice itself is really "do I get a 5850 for £200 odd and clock it to 1Ghz, or do I get a 5870 and clock it to 1Ghz?".

Ultim8, that stand looks great, got any info on it?

It's not an iMount stand by any chance is it? I've been looking at one my self but not been entirely sure on them and haven't been able to find any info from people who have them.

No its an Allcam do a google for it. But speak to Paul before you order and tell him Ross recommended talking to you to get the correct arms for a tri 24" monitor setup. He will know what you mean :)

And as for the cards im looking for something capable of overclocking as I already have a 480mm and a 240mm rad in 2 loops. The 480mm doing the i7 and the 240mm doing the EVGA full EK board block. But im thinking the 240mm maybe able to handle a couple of cards otherwise i have another 240mm feser somewhere :D

Ahh, just looked at the Allcam ones, they're the same as the iMounts. The Allcam site looks a bit more trustworthy however you seem to have a good experience with them, so I'll probably for them.

Would you happen to have any more pictures of your stand?

hmm how do i enable PM's?

Best you have is Trust Enable it by clicking the box.00

I have used the Allcam site and they delivered quickly with no issues. (I have 2 singlwe monitor mounts on my desk.

Even better. :D

I was a bit paranoid that the price was too good to be true.

Yeah the allcam site is the guys who actually bring these into the country. Now there is a problem with the arms when you need larger monitors and need to add more arms. Paul is now fully aware of this and his new shipment of correct arms will be in May. However if you fire him an email and explain you have had a brief discussion with me he will take the correct arm modules off of a quad stand he has in stock.

Basically you need to buy the following for 3 x 24":

1 x MDM06
4 x Long Arms (These are the ones you need to make sure are off of the MDM07 and will need to email Paul to make sure you get these)

HTH :)

Thanks a lot, I'll make sure I mention you to him. :p

I'll probably end up getting one past May anyway, I've got a few changes I need to make to my PC desk before I invest in a triple stand.

What material are they made out of? They look like like steel painted grey/silver?

I'd be very tempted to respray it black when I end up getting one.

Yeah i think they are steel with a metallic coat of silver, also i have the long pole as im adding another monitor to the top for the RDP to my server, the standard pole is 30cm shorter so you wouldn't see it.

Yeah, I thought you had a longer pole, I'd only need the shorter pole really as I'm doing 3x 2408s.

Any chance you could get a close up of how it connects to the desktop? Does it screw in to the top? Or is like a screw clasp type of thing?

It looks like a circular baseplate with holes for it to be screwed to the desk or something.

Kyle its a clamp style fitting, if my desk is like yours it has a steel frame going round the edge so the clamp wasnt deep enough to get past it and wasnt shallow enough to sit flush.
So i cut a bit of wood to to the depth of the steel frame and its solid as a rock :)

Ah no, my desk is something I custom made from solidwood worktops. :D

I'm making changes to my desk in the next few months, it's currently 720mm deep, I'm fixing a new length of worktop to it to increase the depth to over 900mm, so I'll get the stand when I'm taking my current worktop down.
