Vapor x 5870

Excuse my ignorance but is this card better than the Asus 5870 with the voltage tweak? Im guessing the cooler on the vapor is superior?
I have been looking at upgrading my POV GTX260 with one of these but unsure wether to go with this or the ASUS?

Well i chose this card as its got a tiny Overclock by standard and the cooler makes it run cooler. In my book anything that runs cool lasts longer. I did look at the 480Gtx but I can see that unsoldering it self after time.

I got 2 of these last time they were in stock upgraded from BFG 280ocx these cards run very quiet and games run so smouth even the 1 card by itself is great just had 2 try xfire to see what it was like on my dell 24'';)

Debating if to flog my 5850 which is at 900/1200 and get one of these would it be worth it, i game at 1920x1200 sytem is i5 750@4 gig.

Unless these overclocked to 1000ghz core, which I cant see them doing without a Voltage increase (my Asus needs at least a .5v increase to reach 1000..) but if these cards cant I dont think u'de see much of an increase coming from an OC'd 5850..

..I'de would get another 5850 if I were you

nice case, is it a 3 bed semi detatched?

:-)

I'd love to buy one of these, and I could really use the extra horsepower for iRacing. But the cost of a decent displayport adapter and the unreliable faffing around with the cheaper options puts me off. So I'm "stuck" with my GTX260 & TripleHead setup for now. I just wish Triplehead units were supported at more than silly resolutions, then I could avoid Eyefinity for now.

Oh well, maybe the pixel fairy will bring me three matched displayport monitors for Xmas? It'd make a nice change from socks. :->

Hi l'm running a stock Sapp-5870(Fan = Auto) at Vapor settings 875 / 1250, room temp at present is 20'c GPU-Z reports idle GPU Temp 30'c, just thought you would like my temps to compare with your Vapor 5870 -

GPU-Z LOG FILE (BC2 AFTER 1 HOURS PLAY EVERY THING SET FOR MAX EYE CANDY CATS 10.3B)

Date 2010-04-01 12:03:01 / GPU Core Clock [MHz] 875.0MHz / GPU Mem Clock [MHz] 1250MHz / GPU Temp [°C] 55'c / Fan Spd [%] 24% / GPU Load [%] 36% / Fan Speed [RPM] 1523RPM.

Temps when running Ungine Heavon 2.0 64'c / Fan 28%.

Also my 5870 will run OC higher but quite happy with its present settings Case - FTO1. :)

Connectors on the end or the side? I see there's two versions. For a 5870 to fit in my case (PC7-FW) I need the power connectors on the side really. Anyone tell me if they're different on this clocked version?

I’m tempted to buy one of these cards now. Can any one tell me if it will fit an old Antec 900 gaming case?

Thanks.

It will but you'll have to move your HDD's down into the bottom HDD Cage, as the power connectors will get in the way...

Got an Antec 900 gaming case myself....

the one with connectors on the end are shorter cards so it equals ~same length
