Mass Effect 2 - £12.99

i do enjoy a good cheap game.

after building my pc around november time i went shopping on the steam christmas sale:

bioshock: £3.50
torchlight: £3.79
mass effect: £3.79
CS:S: £3.50

so someone let me know when this hits sub £4 lol

wasn't keen on this but my expectations were extremely high after the first one....i think i set myself up for a big let down.
first is probably my favourite game of all time and to think i had it for so long and couldn't get into it :p

id buy it if it werent for the fact that a) i cant import my ME1 character from the 360 and b) ive already got ME2 on the 360 lol.

i'm itching to play it with nice shiny smooth graphics :p

Do you need to have ME1 installed in order for your character to be imported into 2? I've reinstalled windows since finishing ME1 but I backed up the save game folder beforehand, can you just install ME2 and point it in the right direction?

I played ME2 without importing an ME1 character as I'd not played it! I was tempted to buy ME1 but don't see the point now - the interface/combat looks a bit clunkier too.

I think there was enough story in ME2 to give some affinity with the other characters by the end, even if you hadn't played ME1. :)

Can't wait for ME3!

you should really play me1 lol. the combat isnt miles better, at least not on the 360 anyway. the cover system in 2 is ok, but it's over used badly ie, you know when your going to walk in to a big battle as there's stuff to hide behind EVERYWHERE. also, dont you just love it when you use a power and your suddenly standing up from behind the cover for no reason? quality lol.

ME2 is great but prefer the story in ME1 by a country mile. in 2, i did all the character mission and suddenly your on the last mission - no build up of the main story, nothing. at least in 1 the story is split up in to what is it, 3 main missions? 1 is the better game imo but i still love 2, currently playing through it again to reach level 30 readon for ME3 :)

Hrm I did a lot of exploring (got the extra maps) in ME2 and was disappointed by how few planets had anything to do on them - that and the fact that you don't really "customise" your weapons (KOTOR style) are about my only gripes. I think I must have covered pretty much all missions in 45 hours of gaming though?

***Small spoiler***(well bascially the same spoilers that are in james.miller post!)

ME2 is about building(rebuilding) your team for ME3 and finding a way to use the Omega relay.

Great game, well worth the full price I paid a few weeks back.

I did enjoy this game, although I still haven't finished it yet.. But I can't help but feel that it's a bit of a dumbed down RPG with very few ways to advance/customize your character.

So enjoyable, but limited imo.

So i finished Mass effect 1 after 11 hours play time. Great game and top notch Story Line. Now waiting delivery on Mass Effect 2! cant wait

Even with all the hype I was still hugely impressed with ME2. I've played the first one twice - the second time this past December as my save games were lost due to a hard drive failure a while before that and I couldn't bear the wait for the second one.

The games are so good, in fact, I'll play them both again with a completely different character who makes completely different decisions just for the hell of it.
