Ive been wanting to go on holiday for ages no, would love to go to Egypt / Cuba on some cheapish AI deal,

but no one to go on, has anyone ever just got on the plane an gone to relax on there own before?

im half considering it but think id be a bit daft in another country in a resort on my own urgh....

:(

Never gone on a whole vacation on my own but quite often when I go with friends, I spend half the day alone doing my own things.

It's quite fun if you are the kind of person that likes to explore and see new things. Not sure about going to just lay around all day though.

I haven't, but it's something I can imagine I would do. I like my own company more than the company of others.

However, it depends on the type of holiday. I lazy sun holiday where you relax in the sun and just read I can imagine being fine on your own. Adventure holidays or ones with a lot of sites should be shared with others in my opinion. That way in future years you can reflect back on that trip.

kind of, i done a trip across the USA with a company called Trek America, went out there on my own but actually travelled with a group of people i didn't know until i got there

brothers gone to argentina on his own at the mo, he goes often since hes got bags more cash than anyone else he knows, got a good friend going to turkey on her own in a week or so too, she'll enjoy unwinding etc.
its a different type of relaxing holiday, if you dont meet anyone its still nicer than being at home right?

I've been to Las Vegas 3 times as well as Toronto, New York and more recently Boston all on my own. Never thought twice about it.

You get the freedom to do what you want, when you want.

I would quite happily go away on holiday on my own. Would like to go to Thailand or China but everyone thinks it's a bad idea as I'm female but I don't see how it's so different. Anything could happen to a guy that goes away on their own too! :(

yeah im wanting to just got somewhere for a few days / week, that is not england, and to not have to worry about, phones txts money, travel, bills etc etc just a week away to relax, im not even fussed about leaving any complex just eat a bit drink a bit swim an laze about,

altho never done it on my own always with ex's/ friends its nice to hear others have done this though, puts my mind to rest, ideally i dont wanna go on my own but since no ones got time off or cash

I went to Dominican Republic on my own a while back.

Had the time of my life for 2 weeks. Lots of sexy american milfs there ;) :p

Go for it. As long as you're not the kind of person who needs company, just enjoy it. My brother is the latter kind of person and went away by himself for a week on the concept of having this ideal artistically productive time. It drove him mad.

I, on the other band, love spending time on my own and regularly go to coffee shops, pubs and very occasionally restaurants. I do quite a bit of writing so it's the ideal opportunity.

I went to Bruges on my own last year, picked a nice hotel and spent the days wondering round the city and spending time in the cathedrals and the evenings going to the bars round the city, listening to music, writing and reading. It was great.

I plan to do it again towards the end of this year but this time much further East.

I've been to Granada, Amsterdam and Krakow on my own and really enjoyed it. But looking back I would always prefer to share the experience and memories with someone. If I was doing it again I think I would pick a place where people speak English, then at least you have a better chance of making friends.

As said it depends on the type of person you are, some will find it to be fairly easy to go away on their own and have a good time, others will find it to be a bit of a depressing experience. I can't tell whether you'd enjoy it but if you're a reasonably resilient person and confident enough to do your own thing then why not try it at least once - if you don't like it then you'll know for next time.

Nope. I am quite friendly and sociable but don't make new "friends" easily, I can chat but not much more. So I would end up just being on my own.

When you are on your own it is less fun and more of a mission to get to where you are going rather than taking it easy and enjoying yourself with your mate.

Friends all the way for me.

I have a mate that has just gone to Canada alone for 6 month. He seems to be loving it and appears to be hanging around with many attractive young ladies. But they do speak English there and I agree it is better to have someone to reminisce with when you get back.

Ive been on some short breaks by myself, I prefer company but if theres somewhere I want to go and I have no one to go with I wouldnt think twice about it.

im off to turkey today on my own...

ill be wakeboarding / waterskiing tho. Its a sport that attracts people who travel alone, think "more the merrier". You don't often get groups of +2.

I did a cycling trip through Europe on my todd. I love my mates but the thing that made it brilliant was them not being there. Gives you a chance to be who you want and do what you want, when you want to do it.

Would highly recommend that every one goes away on their own at least once.

I've seen many people on their own while on holiday. I just tend to point and laugh with all my mates.

I may have travelled for a year on my own although only actually spent 2 days by my self.
