I was sick of hearing the huge fans of my NZXT Panzerbox. They were even loud through [Silent] on the Mobo settings, even with SpeedFan. So, I've decided to change for a silent, and Dust Free future. I have switched to a Fractal Design R2

These are the pictures from beginning to end, and just under 3 hours, these are the 'Silencing' stages :)

The original case.

- Sorry if pictures are bad quality (iPhone 3G) + I also just want to show why big companies don't always care about their customers, designing crappy cases, and how good companies are sometimes better, with the excellent design + almost unhearable case - which doesn't really smell, like some people say it does :)

Making lot of noise about something is often used to cover the fact that they didn't do their work properly... or actually didn't do any work at all and just slapped lot of crap together.

Amount of smell might have lot to do with has case been stored for some time or has it been hurried from factory to shop and from there to buyer.

I got my R2 delivered today. I love it.

No smells, No noise and the quality is great.

Oh and Ryan-3, Im sure you could do those cables a little neater :p

After 3 hours of re-assembly, nah :)

Will do it again + will put them here later. Its the fan controller thing that looks bad :)

Project looks promising so far, keep up the good work.
Just a tip remove your exif data since i can see where you live, Seaton Sluice:)

Mine still has both sides of, keep re-jigging cables etc (So far Ive prob spent about 4.5 hours on it and I build about 20 systems a week :p )

Your right the fan controller is a pain to tidy.

Will post some pics when its done.

Not sure why it says where I live :)

+ Can't wait to see your pics - see what I can improve :)

++ I also have a Molex power cable from the PSU, as the fans hardly spun with the other one. Makes it a little messy, but better cooling. Still silent though :D

Not sure why it says where I live :)

Just copying the co-ordinates in the EXIF data into Google Maps shows me exactly what house you live in. I'd be careful what photos you upload to the internet from your iPhone, or alterntively turn off the geo-tagging feature.

Geo-Tagging is now off :) - and this is the only place I upload photos from it too :)

+ Even if you wanted to steal my PC, you can fix the RAM first. Caused some BSoD recently :(

edit - (Touchwood) - they've stopped - for now :D
