New car time!

I am also looking for a new car, as my daily commute back and forward to work has increased from 12miles a day to 50 miles!!! so now im spending £45 a week on petrol and the fiesta ST is not the best car for motorway journeys....
So my annual mileage is now going to be around the 16-18k mark. So i think its going to have to be a diesel... Also i will need a bigger car now than a fiesta ;)

I am interested in a a type s 2.2 cdti, been a passenger in one and loved it. 0-60 in 9secs and 50+ mpg you cant complain.

I am on the lookout for a 07-08 model but they hold their value so well your still looking at £11-12k with 30-40k on the clock! So i knocked the idea on the head and sticking with my car for the time being.... but didnt know you could get such a good deal on one from new.... i might have to phone my local honda dealer.

Or do i go for my other plan that i have and spend £8-9k ish on an Audi A3 2.0 TDi sportback quatro sport or hopefully S-line for not much more. 4-5 years old with 60-80k miles on the clock with the major service and cambelt change done out of the way. And hope that the car lasts me another 100k / 6 years with hardly any trouble free motoring.... what do you guys think?

Nice Civic. Brother in law just bought a Type R 2009 after chopping in his Corsa VXR.

That blue colour, not seen a Civic in that before is it a 2010 colour?.

Yeah, it's specs look really epic. 138BHP from a 2.2 litre turbo diesel, 340NM torque, 54MPG combined cycle?

yep. the honda unit has always had a great reception.

not always about powah... and 60mpg, cmon, no one takes the stats seriously.

That's a whole truckload worse than for example the 320d. 2 litre, 184BHP, 380NM torque, and 60MPG.

lol.. fanboy///

i like the colour of the car.. not so much the shape ;)

A friend of mine has had 3 brand new Civics in the last 3 years, a 1.4 petrol, a type-R and back to a 1.4 petrol again.

He also got 1/4 off the purchase price (even more on the CTR afaik) on them, but he did pay by finance, so I guess they get some of the money back through interest. And by trading it in after 1 year they probably make money too.

I was very surprised by the lack of quality of the interior especially in the type-R, it was pretty much identical as the 1.4 , and for an "expensive" car it was really poor.

A 3 Series is comparable to a Civic... how exactly?

The guy is happy with his car. Can't you just say 'Nice car' rather than tell him how crap it is compared to a BMW?

Comparing this to a BMW = epic fail.

I don't mind, as I said before I don't care for BMWs. Plus I like that I get let out in traffic :p
If I wanted to hear how awesome the car is I would have gone to a Honda forum so they could tell me what I already knew.:D

kip02, how did you manage to get it for such a good deal then?

My fantastic bargaining skills haha. No, I just timed it right at the end of the month and quarter and they said they hadn't hit their targets so got a good deal.
