Lo!

I had previously been using Skullcandy Ink'd in-ears that were very comfortable and surprisingly good sound quality for the price but I managed to damage them. Fancy trying something new this time though so what would you recommend?

Comfort is a big factor as so many in-ears I use are uncomfortable such as a pair of JVC's I bought not too long ago.

Anything with comply or similar foam tips. They generally give excellent comfort and isolation.

I'd look at beta brainwavz pro for £15 delivered imported they come with many tips including memory foam type things and overall really good value earphones for the price.
They aren't world beaters no but very good for the cost certainly better than anything you are going to get for £15 from a uk retailer.

You could get the beta brainwavz pro + E5 amp combo for around £24 delivered too only snag is will take 2 weeks to arrive.
They do sound a lot better with the filters on and and ran through the E5 amp though.

Other than this could look at the budget sennheiser range I suppose or soundmagic pl30.

I think the beta brainwavz pro + E5 amp they sell for £24 delivered is a little gem of a bargain really, as most places the E5 amp alone will cost you £15-£20.

Sennheiser CX-300 II. Easily found for < £20 if you do a bit of looking around.

Easily the best budget in ear phone I reckon. They come with 3 different size of soft rubber plug, Haven't found anyone yet that at least of one the sizes doesn't fit snugly.

EDIT: Just beware fakes, they are a bit rife as these are so popular. My advice would be to make sure you buy from a reputable store, even though the places selling em for less than a tenner can be very tempting!

Yep they are good ear phones im buying a pair next week :)

May i suggest a site thats named after a big rain forest to get them from ;)

I would like all the people that recommend cx300's to stray off the path once or twice you'd be surprised how bad they really are compared to what else is out there for the money.

Like what? Genuine question, I have had both generations of 300 and thought they sounded far superior to most others I heard.

Nowhere near the midrange of some £150 ones a friend had, but then, they were a tenth of the price!

They are a bassy set of headphones, but saying that they are still very clear with good mid and high range response, a good teflon coated cable construction and on the whole, the best bang for buck that I have personally come across.

Certainly better than Skullcandy etc. imho.

Some of the bang for buck imported ones people go on about on head fi forums. Not knocking the cx300 they do what it says on the tin.
Just saying is all as some of the budget imports do have midrange and clarity of £150+ earphones.

My 3rd pair of cx300 just died and I don't want to spend more than £20 what do you suggest. ?

Try Klipsch Image X1? Not bad sound either.

+1. I thought I'd try a set of these after my second set of CX 300s died. Vastly superior sound!
A little harsh at first, but after wear in, they sound great :)

They're not perfect though... I always feel like there's something "missing" from the sound. EQing helped a little, but I wasn't sure where to boost and cut... :/

Still, for £17 from that certain forest website, a BARGIN! :)

I've had three sets of CX300's and two sets of EX-71's I've gone for the Klipsch Image X1 because of the amount of fakes on ebay from sony and sennheiser.

Hi,
I am always happy tell
my customers the truth
about the items. Due to their low price, these are
high quality copies. I use these myself and I am
very happy with the quality. If
you are looking for genuine products its better to
stick to high street retailers or at least amazon.
These headphones are sold on eBay widely and vast
majority of what you see here are equivalent
headphones and these are being offered at the best
price. If you are looking to buy genuine
headphones, I would suggest aiming at about the
price range of 20 to 40 pounds.

Best regards,

Peter

I will be honest, It is 1:1 copy, really good quality, I believe you can not find any genuine on e-bay, they all come from china.

To re-inforce what others have said i used CX300's for about 2 years (went through 3 sets because no matter how resilient earphones are, which these are, i will break them...). Only stopped now to use the ones that came with my iPhone because i don't mind them and don't use them often anyway.

As someone else said too, avoid places like the bay because there are so many fakes kicking around.
