Can someone fill me in on the actual differences between the 3D in a film like Avatar and the 3D in Clash Of The Titans.

From what i've heard, Avatar was filmed/produced in a true 3D environment, which is why it's so believable and stunning visually. How does the 3D process work in a film like Clash Of The Titans when the actual filming was done in regular 2D.

The only 3D film I have watched is Avata, however after seeing that I have high hopes for 3D movies to come. I was going to watch COTT tomorrow in 3D but after recent reports, I think i'll stick with the 2D version.

Do not watch Clash of the Titans in 3D whatever you do.

The director said that the retrofitting process involves each frame being 'converted' and they had something like 2000 people work on Titans to achieve it in short space of time. There's someone on here who claims to have actually worked on the film's CGI I believe, so they might understand the actual technical process.

Yeah, I saw his/her posts on the COTT thread but it didn't go into massive detail about the actual 3D side of things. I was initially going to post this question in that thread but figure too many people would miss it there.
