*** Final Fantasy XIII ***

I wish I could get some Trap drops, I gave up trying to farm them for now, must have killed a billion Adamn's with the Connoisseur catalog equiped and nada :(

In the end i've sacrificed one of my Genji Gloves (I never ever use one for Hope so having 3 was a waste) to get one so I could at least start upgrading Fang's weapon to the Lv3 version.

Now to just finish saving up to buy the other two I need. :(

Trap drops should come with time, i ended up with a total of 9 while farming for the treasure hunter trophy and CP. Which is quite annoying since after getting 6 there a waste since they only sell for 10,000 as opposed to the 150,000 of the ingots. Strangely i got them in pairs though, 1 trap would drop and a 2nd directly after.

If you are planning on going for the treasure hunter trophy i'd certainly go against buying a trapezohedron simply because its cost is a lot of farming that can be put to upgrading other things and if you are farming ingots for gil theres no reason you shouldn't come across atleast 4 in the time it takes you to amass enough gil to get everything. In fact it is still cheaper to use 1 Trap and upgrade fang or vanille's weapon to max which will probably still cost less than 2 million and then dismantle it to get 3 trapezohedrons.

If you do the dismantle thing make sure you do the right weapon, not all of fang/vanille weapons will dismantle into 3 Trapz when maxed out.

Finished Mission 1 - 63 all with 5 stars today... Mission 62, good lord, just thankful I NEVER have to do that again. Got really lucky with the Cactuar mission also, set up 3 Instant Chains on my guys and worked out I needed it to proc inside of about 10 seconds else I'd die. Proc'd near instantly, killed him about 5 or 6 seconds :D Mission 64 left! Can't be worse than 62 surely...

To 5 star 64 is easier than 62, with the gold watch target time was like 14 minutes for maxed chars with fully leveled ultimate weapons, i did it in 8 so was well inside 5 stars.

i did the dismantle trick with the gae bolg, took me a long time though and during my grind for the parts i did come across 2 traps  not that im complaining I now have 2 that I don't need and they only sell for 10k which is awful.

I guess i'll just keep them if i ever want to upgrade the other chars weapons in the future

anyone got a tip for killing juggernauts?
You can poison them, they'll remove it when they Steam Clean though.

Not got the Gold Watch yet, left it until last... probably not the best idea. Mission 62 just seemed more luck than anything else.

Yep, I find inflicting status ailments on them works quite well. They steam clean it off, but it takes them a while to "charge up" and then to actually finish the steam cleaning, so it prevents them from attacking for a while.

I realise this has probably been asked a lot, but i'm currently levelling up on chapter 11 against the Rangda's (x4) near where you start off. I can get 2960 CP in under a minute against them. I wondered if there are any better places to be spending my time?

Maybe the first part of Mah'Harbra, but I wouldn't spend too long grinding in Chapter 11. The CP you can get later in the game is much higher.

I seem to have hit a difficulty wall. Up until this point i've had few problems killing enemies, i've completed the Titan trials (all but one of them on my first attempt, damn neochu!) and a few of the even higher level trials, but the adamantoises (other than the baby varient) are just immensely powerful and i can't find anything between them in terms of difficulty. I'm not a grinding person, i've gotten this far without any at all aside from 15 mins in chapter 11. Am i missing something? The only way i can think to survive their onslaught is to buy a few royal armlets to soak up the damage, but then i've only got 1.7mil gil so want to spend carefully.

I'm also not a death-spam type of person so would rather avoid this approach too.

Are you fighting the Long Gui or Adamantoise? If you have completed the Titan Trials and Attacus I would imagine it is Long Gui who is quite hard. If you want to beat him just use a Summon to knock him down than Imperil/Slow/De-Protect/Deshell him then stagger and hammer with him with 2 Coms + Rav till he gets up. 2nd half will be hard, so you can just practice taking his legs down, or use an Elixir to top up TP and repeat what you did 1st half.

Genji Glove (which you probably have more than one of by the stone missions) will help you do over 99,999 damage while he is down and at 999% stagger.

If it is Adamantoise he should be much easier than beating the Titan trials. Basically just do half of what you do for Long Gui.

Seeing as you don't want to grind using up your Summon and/or Elixir up for a one off victory should be OK, I assume.

Nah there aren't any Long Guis that i can see yet.

I didn't realize the summons would do that, tbh i haven't used a summon in ages, i pretty much forgot they existed. Will give that a go as dealing the damage isn't the issue, it's when he stamps and then casts quake shortly after that's causing the problems as there's just no way i can heal fast enough to keep my party standing.

I've got one Genji glove but my weapons are all still tier 2 so the only one who can 99k damage is Fang so i'll give that to her.

It's a bit mental the leap in difficulty though, sure killing Attacus was pain staking as i had to have a Sen in my team for all of the paradigms to stay alive, but good tactical thinking made it more than possible despite having what was probably a weaker team than most would attempt it with. With these toises no matter what 'reusable' or fun (ie doesn't require the use of things like TP to summon, or boring tactics such as Death spamming) tactic you use you get pasted. I guess i've only got myself to blame as i've still not even maxed out the main three stat grids, and am yet to touch the extra 3. I'm also yet to buy anything for upgrading so i'm still stuck with mid-level tier 2 weapons because the whole upgrading system has gone right over my head.

Yay, mission 64 done, 5 star'd the first kill (although took 6 attempts) :D Got Treasure Hunter too, and the platinum trophy! my first one :D

Loved mission 64, probably my favourite fight, not epically hard or stupid and frantic enough to keep me from blinking for about 10 minutes. Ended up killing him in 9.5 minutes, with 12.5 minute average time. Must have just scraped those 5 stars.

Managed to fell an Adamantortoise without using consumables/TP/Death Spam (and with characters that haven't even completed their three main stat grids yet and only have level 2 weapons). Was an epic slugfest but as soon as i worked out that he is defenceless when he collapses it all came together, Relentless Assault followed by Highwind for a tasty six figure hit. Took three repeats of this tactic and he was down, took 13 mins and he didn't drop anything so i think i'm going to have to find something else to do until my characters are stronger.

With that said i'm struggling to find anything to do, i've done nearly all of the missions now and don't want to turn them into Long Gui so it's a choice of grind or put the game back on the shelf.

I hate grinding, the shelf is looking appealing. Good game but pretty poor for a Final Fantasy imo.
