Hey Folks

My 18 month iphone contract ended last week, and I was all set the get the sony x10. The reviews havent really done it for me though, and just as a personal thing, the interface looks a bit drab - just my opinion :D

So, I'm now set on the desire. Just spoke to O2 and they aren't sure on an exact date, yet other networks are showing it as in stock (tmobile)

Is there anything I should no about transferring numbers to other networks. I havent done it before as I've been with 02 for about 7 years, but I'm mighty tempted as the guy I spoke to mentioned mid-may

Plus, I can save about £17 a month by moving over. Iphones were expensive 18 months ago ;)

So what do you think - should I just move?

Cheers

It's apparently due some time in April. I phoned today and was told approximately the 29th.

I hear April too!! If you're happy with the network and you can wait a month or so, you should consider it! I'm waiting for it to appear on o2 payg or the offline price to drop a little..

I was told "Early May" today by the O2 store in Newton Abbot... amazes me the fact you get a different story depending on who you speak to!
I swear they just have a random date generator on their computers...

Like the OP I've been with o2 for about the same amount of time and am thinking about jumping ship.. its only my O2 Open discount thats keeping me there :(

If you want to move and keep your number then get your PAC code from 02. Then give the PAC to whichever operator you choose. If you're happy with 02 then I'd move to a cheaper tariff and wait to see what they offer before jumping ship.

Thanks

Just rang them again to see if they can promise me first dibs when it comes out, but they cant. Also, they cant guarantee discounted tariff rates even though my rolling contract is way high compared to what tmobile are offering.

They said the 25th is the last they heard (a sunday?) but that isnt set in stone.

Think I'm gonna jump ship as I'd like the new phone before going away at the end of the month. So, just to verify - do I get the PAC code before ringing tmobile or vice versa, and then when all sorted, I'll have the exact same number as I do now?

Cheers

Personally I'd get the new phone first and ensure it works etc, then request the PAC code, but you can do it either way.

Ordered :D

Will be with me on Wednesday. £30.00 pm for 600mins (plus unlimited messages & internet) + £6.99 insurance - that I asked for. My last O2 bill was £52.00 so let the savings commence.

Threw in a free bluetooth headphone thingy, and a premium number if I didnt bother with the PAC route. After hearing the number, I agreed. Cant see it being true, but apparently it was worth £67 (didnt even know people payed for numbers??)

The guy on the phone suggested instead of cancelling O2, just swap it to PAYG and leave a voicemail message with my new number on. Makes sense I suppose

So, free phone, plus pretty hefty savings on current bill equals a good deal

Thanks

Who with? Vodafone?

What kind of number are you getting that it gets called a premium number? Like few unique digits or repetitive numbers or what?

I wish I could have 07777CHIGGZ

Is that 18 or 24 month Contract?

Its with Vodaphone and its a 24 month contract. I'm happy with 24 months as its insured so if an 'accident' happens, so be it

The number, again not sure I believe it will be 'premium', is repetitive. The last 6 digits copy themselves, kind of. Like *****464656, but not that ;)
