I got the first one when I had a ps3 and I was bored after a couple of hours.

A video review on AC2 suggests that all the flaws have been ironed out and this one doesn't just invlive stabbing everyone.

Is the game any good? Are the missions varied? or just stab someone every mission?

Its better than the first although combat is still rubbish, counter kills. The assassination bosses are pretty rubbish and it does get repetitive, each new unlocked area offeres nothing new over the last.

It was a step in the right direction and worth renting or buying cheap.

new ff is great, check out the official thread although it does take 20 odd hours until it really kicks in. It doesnt mean its a bad game until that point but it really opens up from that point.

I picked up AC2 yesterday to play over the long weekend. Tesco had it for £25.

Having not played the first one I was interested to see what all the fuss was about.

It's a bit like a cross between GTA and Tomb Raider based in the renaissance :)

Not too bad so far. I've just opened up a new section of the map and started to bump in to thieves who can help me out. Looks lovely, even on my old CRT TV, and it's enjoyable. Usual mission stuff on these type of games. Meet someone who asks you to go somewhere and do something for them but several of those missions seem to be nicely linked together in a story.

Worth it if you find it cheap I think.

Takes frigging ages to get going to full speed.

If you can afford to plough 5 hrs in before it takes off, carry on. I enjoyed it.

Having read a lot of the reviews saying that all of the problems have been fixed, I was pretty disappointed after playing. They took out the awful pre-assassination grind of eavesdropping, beating some guy up, etc. but the repitition is still there. While not every mission is the same, you get to a point fairly quickly where you feel like you've done it all before.

The combat hasn't improved much either. While there is a little bit more to do than in AC1, it's still a dreadful parry, and counter system which basically renders you invincible against any size of force you could possibly encounter. There's still a lot of kill 20 guards then stab a guy type missions, which really doesn't make you feel much like the stealthy assassin that you should be :P

It is an improvement on the first game though, and free running is still somewhat enjoyable. My favourite thing about the game is the renaissance architecture.

ok, sounds like I will be bored of it after a couple of hours. Gonna hang tight for Alan Wake and Red Dead Redemption that are released soon.

Gonna order SSF4 now :p

Batman is a much better game! it's really good. I can never make my mind up on AC2. I really enjoyed the first one but I can never seem to get going on the 2nd one. I turn it on, complete 2-3 missions then turn it off. Maybe it's one of those games that, once you have finished one of them, you are done. I think my enjoyment of the 1st one was partly due to the surprise that I liked it, it wouldn't usually have been something that appealed to me.

It has been improved so much over the first game. Free-running is still fun and there's more variety with the missions. There's also a notoriety system and the ability to buy new weapons and armour. I would say the whole flying machine thing is over-rated, though.

If you can get it for ~£20 I'd say it is well worth it :)

This is one of the best games i have played in a long time!

The graphics are absolutely stunning and i spent a considerable amount of time just to pause and take in the impressively detailed landmarks and views, makes me want to go to Italy and see these places! One place in particular is stuck in my head, i think its where the last or second to last Seal is, the inside of the building is totally mindblowing

Storyline is great and i enjoyed the missions although i wish the could have been a little harder, like one later on where you have to board a ship and assassinate someone without being detected... that took me quite a few attempts to figure out :p

Nice to see that they've made good use of the Eagle Eye this time round. I barely used it in the first one, in this you need to use it a lot!

I thought the fighting was good fun, the counter attacks are really amusing, but one in particular is rather gruesome and reminded me of Manhunt ... although, not quite that disturbing lol ;)

Im off to play some more.... only another 70 feathers left to find :(
