My daughter born outside of UK, how do I get her back into Britian?

Might be a bit complicated since neither me or the wife would be living in the UK after sending the baby over~ And she'll be at my parent's house

I was going to suggest a dependent visa since she is dependent on you etc. but i'm not sure how that plays into it if you're not here either.

In any case, you'l likely need to show bank statements, employment letters, pay slips etc to show that you have enough funds to support her. Again, not sure how it works if you aren't here either.

Can I not just put her in a bag and get on the plane...much easier method I have to say. :o

Have you thought of what happens when you want her to come back to china?
In terms of nationality she may not be allowed to stay there indefinitely?

Apparently the Chinese doesn't allow dual nationalities

Does China have some equivalent of Overseas Citizen of India? India doesn't permit dual nationality either, but they do have overseas citizenship - essentially, a lifelong visa (goes in the British passport) that grants all citizenship rights apart from buying agricultural land and standing for elections. You might want to see if this type of option is available for your daughter too.

Many countries do not allow dual nationality so don't ask the Chinese about it. get her a Chinese passport.

Then apply to the British Embassy in beijing for a British Passport for your daughter.

Once your daughter has a British passport, the embassy must grant a permanent visa to your wife as the mother of a British citizen.

When you travel into China, use your daughter's Chinese passport. When you travel into the UK or to anywhere other than China, use her Briitish passport.

This is exactly what happened with me and the above has worked for me perfectly for a decade.

India does have dual citizenship. Introduced it a few years back, 2005 or 2006 I think.

But yes, that is something to look into as well.

Yes, that's through the Overseas Citizen scheme I detailed. But afaik you cannot have proper dual nationality where you hold passports from both countries.

OP, you might want to have a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nationality_Law_of_the_People's_Republic_of_China

In China, children born of Chinese-foreign marriages are considered to be Chinese citizens by the PRC government, which can cause complications if a foreign passport is subsequently used to exit China.

So you had a baby, don't have time for it, so wish to send it away for somebody else to look after it?

Wow... just... wow.

Because you know him and his lifestyle don't you?

He's just told us above!

My father-in-law and myself are both consumed by really busy schedule and huge workload, that would be rather unconvinent for my wife to take care of the baby and her mother alone.

He's too busy with work to look after the kid, he says so himself!

So what if it's a case of the work needs doing or the business goes under?

Better to spend time looking after your child while you go bankrupt or sending it to live with your parents for a few months till the wifes mum is better and she can look after the child?

If you have a child and somthing happens so you other half can't look after it would you be leaving your job to stay home with the child?
