Fantastic Wheel Refurb

the guy with the M5 getting excited about how packaging the wheels were returned back to him in.

all well and good they did a cracking job, as has been said many times 99% of places are bodge artists, but the finish on those wheel is really good.

paint depth guaging your wheels though... get a girlfriend!

He was just making a point about the attention to detail and how it even extended to the way the wheels were packaged

To be honest if we are playing identify the 'looser' (sic) and its between you and him it isnt much of a contest :p

Why is this always used as some sort of insult, as if attention to detail and being single are related? Would the presence of a woman mean he wouldnt care how his wheels were packaged or something, obviously not given there appears to be one in the photo :p

Not that far away and mine could do with doing now. Going to fire off an e-mail too I think :)

Always been put off by some of these touch up while on the car type things so if I can borrow some wheels in the meantime it would be much better.

jealous of having a paint depth guage or jealous of having even paint depth on my wheels? the answer is no to both of those questions.

attention to detail is great, but over something so completely insignificant as the depth of paint on your wheels. he needs a lot of help, im really not suprised to see he posts on detailing world.

id love to know the rubber depth on his brake pedal

He doesn't need a lot of help at all. He presumably had a paint depth guage kicking around for other purposes and decided to spend all of 20 seconds firing it up out of interest or something.

If you think that makes him a 'loser' then it says more about you than it does about him.

Just because he has different standards to you doesn't mean he 'needs help', just like you dont 'need help' for having such low standards you are content to arrive places in a scrappage scheme reject.

Well, he did say he was going to go over the wheel in more detail with the gauge, so I don't think it was just a casual passing interest :p

"The Paint levels are consistent, with around 230 microns on the rim and upwards of 380 on the face. I will still measure them tomorrow in full, to check them all properly."

Meh so what? Everyone has interests. If thats his, thats his - it doesnt mean he needs 'help' nor does it imply he hasn't got a girlfriend. He's hardly in league with the Astra VXR guy is he?

I'm lost as to how it is in any way sad to want to inspect the work done to his wheels, for purposes of telling people how good the end result is?

Fantastic refurbs there, really top top work!

I appreciate attention to detail, I know other people do too ...if you think that makes someone sad then fine, but the 'that'll do' approach is not good enough for me, I know I wouldn't let someone with that attitude near my wheels with a sand blaster.

I was struck by the urge to have my car repsrayed Alpine White today and my wheels all shadow-chromed :D ...then I thought ...wtf are you thinking, you could buy an m5 as a money saving excersize is you were going to go that far ...but yea anyway ...it looks good in my mind.

Fantastic work, and the prices are very reasonable indeed. In fact I was shocked at how reasonable they were

pretty much what id expect from a 'proper' powder coating process. good that the guys showed people it though.

the smoked chrome effect powders really do look great in person though. my fathers had various motorbike wheels and parts done in it and it always looks stunning. powder always looks miles better than paint for me

that is one serious wheel refurb. Saying that mine could do with being refurbed as mine been kerb and scuffed when I had new tyres put on.

I appreciated the info to be honest. Shows how consistent the process is and the allowance to apply product X.

PS: Attention to detail is still a requirement since the last time I checked for those "high paying" jobs ...

but this is beyond attention to detail, a few people have mentioned anal, but im not sure if thats the right term, i think it boarders more on the bad side of nerdy/geeky/anorak ish

if he had a "high paying" job, id expect he be driving a v10 m5.

i think you should look at this in terms of Top Gear's cool wall. theres no question that those wheels look lovely, but hes just gone too far

i have to say i raised an eyebrow too

what was he doing claying brand new wheels. What did he think he was going to pick up, especially after he obviously had photos of his wheels being stripped back to bare metal !!
